Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

Something More. . .
I'd like to think that my "Difficulties Beyond My Control" post doesn't really count as an entry. Sure, it's a thought, an emotion, and something I felt like sharing as I tried different solutions until I found the right one. But, it's not much in the way of depth.
As I'm thinking of the holidays, I realize we've recently celebrated two meaningful things: Thanksgiving and the birth of Jesus. Like many out there in the world, I wanted to treat the holidays with a pause, a reverence, something of a real memory-making significance, as the holy days they are to me. I set out to use an Advent Calendar. I intended to sit down with the kids each day and ponder the real reason for the season using The Advent Book, to treasure these things that pass all too quickly.
I wish I could say I was faithful in all the things I set out to do this year. We did have some meaningful times together. Our time in the Bible was focused on the coming of Jesus. Dad spent some time in devotions with the kids in this area, and he brought some fresh perspective and good leadership. The kids have a greater understanding of Christmas this year than last. Sadly, we had intermittent visits to The Advent Book. I wish I'd been more faithful with that. (A little read-aloud, a little hot chocolate...that says 'memory' to me.)
I'll be remembering this year when we roll around next year. I'm hoping that God will inspire me to prioritize some things that might not have happened this year. Our schedule was fast...maybe too fast. I want to consider how to maintain a servant's heart and still be busy at home next year.
For those of you who sought to make memories, how did you do with that this year? What are some of the traditions you've used to enrich the Christmas season in your family...and maybe to slow down the whole thing for more enjoyment?

We always do our Christmas book readings. I wrap them up in Christmas paper and the kids pick one out of the basket and we read it after lunch usually.
We don't miss our Advent readings because they are so exciting the kids can't wait to read them the next day. The one we did this year was called Bartholomew's Passage, but there is also Jotham's Journey and Tabitha's Travels.
Thanks for visiting my blog! Holly
