Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

Lost in Cyber Space!

Posted in School Things
Do you ever find something, think you won't forget it, and then need it desperately? I was looking at a great volcano activity that had a better recipe/reaction than what I have here. I was thrilled to find it. I lost it!

It was a home school mom whose kids were making so much noise the neighbor kids came over...and the home school mom spent 15 minutes explaining it! I'm bummed because I enjoyed reading the entry so much.

Where, oh where! *sigh*

It wasn't this, but this is my substitute:

time to make 5 min 5 min prep
1 tablespoon liquid dishwashing soap
3 drops red food coloring
1 cup vinegar
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 tablespoons baking soda
  1. You will also need 1 empty 25oz. plastic bottle.
  2. Build a mound of dirt up around the bottle, keeping the top open.
  3. Combine the soap and food coloring in the bottle.
  4. Add vinegar and pour in water almost to the top.
  5. Here's the amazing part! -- In a large spoon blend the baking soda with a little tap water to moisten it and then quickly pour into the bottle.
  6. The contents will erupt out of the bottle just like a volcano.
  7. The kids will want to see this more than once so be prepared :).

WOW....thank you for the idea. This sounds like it will be a lot of fun. It will be a great project for Kiddo and barlowgirlgirl to do together, giving her mom, begwannabe some desperately needed time off!

Blessings~

I lose suggestions, links, recipes, ideas, etc. ALL the time. And that would be many that I was just sure I wouldn't forget or lose. =P

Baking soda and vinegar is one of our all time favorite combinations.... =D
