Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

Brain Cells

Posted in Boy Things
We were working on math facts this morning. Habanero boy and I were trying to memorize the "mirror" facts (1+1, 2+2, 3+3. . .). You know it wasn't a normal conversation, right?

Habanero: Mom, why do I have to do these so many times?

Me: We memorize our math facts so they are easy and the answers come quickly. Memorizing means practice, just like Bible verses. You need to train your brain cells to know the facts and answers.

Habanero:
What if I go to sleep and brain cells walk out of my ear?

Me: Brain cells can't walk out of your ear. The only way you can lose brain cells is to kill them by not taking care of your body and mind. (Prep for a conversation later down the road, right?)

Habanero:
So, the brain cells can die?

Me: Yes, they can.

Habanero: When they die, do they turn into ear wax?

Me:  (silent)

Boys are unique in the way they think, don't you agree?  *grin*

Since we're all homeschoolers and open to learn new things I just have to tell ya that those conversations don't just happen with boys. *sigh*

But now I wonder about the earwax. Do ya think, maybe...??!! Hmmm.

Who'd have thunk? You mean girls talk about gross things, too? *lol*

Actually, my mom has mentioned that "if Habanero came in a girl...it would be me." *sigh* Not all that encouraging....
