Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

My Next Science Extravaganza: Botany!

Posted in School Things
*I try not to post too many entries in a day. Can you all deal with two today?*

Remember "Rocks on the Brain" from last week? Then there was "More Rocks on the Brain" to follow that. Geology was my first experience teaching in our home school co-op. I mentioned I had another coming up, and so I begin the journey!

This time, I'm working with the 9-12 year olds. *grin* I'm going to enjoy this, I think.

You'll never guess what I found! I found an experiment that looks like we could do it within our time frame. Now, do we NEED to know how to extract DNA from plants? (I think we might!)  *grin*

Extracting DNA From Anything Living

I'd love your comments, by the way! What kinds of fun, quick, short experiments have you enjoyed? It's the same kind of deal as last time. About an hour and twenty minutes. A general survey sort of thing for all things botanical.

Ready for some fun????

What will they think of next? =) This type of science is beyond what I've ever taught, so I'm not sure what to suggest! LOL I'm sure you'll find the type of stuff you're looking for!

That looks like a really fun experiment! I just saw your comment on my nature blog tonight that you were looking for botany ideas. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I haven't been over there for a while :) We haven't done to many experiments that would be quick so I'm really glad you have found one that will work for you!
Have fun with your group,
