Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

Silent Saturday?

Posted in Celebrations!
How silent it must have been all those years ago for the followers of Jesus Christ.

Did they sleep at all after the events of Friday? I somehow doubt they did. Those that did manage to doze off might have been a bit like me after terrible circumstances. Did they wake in their sleep-deprived state hoping to find it had been a dream? Did they check to see who was in the room with them, hoping they would see Jesus sleeping peacefully like He was in the boat on the rough waves of the sea? When they didn't see Him sleeping there, did they burst out in wails and weeping all over again? Did they even speak to one another on that night and into that day?

We know two followers began to take the road out of town. Dejected and uncertain, were they returning to their old lives, hoping the last days would be somehow meaningful. . .and somehow erased from their memories? We know they were talking and trying to process it at least. We know they had someone they almost never recognized show up to help them in their troubles.

Silence for the some of the followers on Saturday wasn't necessarily silent for the King.  What does your King have to say to you on your Saturday today?

I tend to want to skip from Friday to Sunday. It's not a bad plan. I mean, certainly those two days are the ones we are most familiar with. We know the most about the events that took place because people wrote them down. But, Saturday can't be ignored. Think deeply about this single day that most definitely happened, and most definitely impacted His followers in a profound way!

This particular Saturday was the day when no one knew what was next. For some, all they knew of God was dead. For others, it was potentially the end to their dream of freedom from Roman oppression. For still others, it was a puzzle to be reassembled. And then there was this few I think existed: they were waiting for something amazing. Maybe they didn't know what it was, but they were waiting for Jesus to show Himself for who He really was. (Could He do that from beyond the grave?) It was the day of waiting. Perhaps it was the day God allowed His people to feel the void more intensely than they ever had before. Whatever we want to think about Saturday, it was a day of waiting.

Remember Isaiah's words about waiting?  "Those who wait upon the Lord. . ."

What are you doing with your Saturday that is sandwiched between the Day of Sorrow and the Day of Celebration?
