Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

I Have a Dream. . .
Posted in School Things
Or, I at least have a crazy thought. *giggle*
I've been thinking through our home schooling options for next year. We've been part of home school groups for each of the years I have taught, with the exception of the first year when I had a five year old and a 2 year old. Each year has been good with the groups with which we've met. Really, they have been a blessing. Maybe a little more information will explain what's going on in my head.
Our first group was absolutely huge in size! With more than 90 students in the group, it functioned in three age groups and preschool. For the older students, the first year included gym, music/art, and various options for the third hour. It was two three-hour sessions each month. I actually liked it. We had one hour of teaching or helping, and then we had time to fellowship. The second year with this group tended to be more work, but it wasn't bad. I still had time to get together with some adult women, and that was a blessing. (This group has since struggled because they changed to such a high amount of busy-ness for the moms and very little fellowship was occurring.)
Our second group experience was birthed, really, out of the first. A leader from the first group and a few moms decided something local to them would be a blessing. It's a much, much smaller group with probably only a few dozen kids. This group eliminated the gym portion (but added in some large motor time second half of the year out of need). It has a music portion (vocal and even tonette this semester). The first half of the year focused on the election. The second half of the year focused on science basically in the order of creation. It's been a mixed bag for me here. I have to teach minimum once a semester, and it may or may not be something I enjoy.
So, this next year with this second group, they will be tackling various countries for the whole year. It will include some music, culture, geography, and maybe food? Bell Pepper is good with it because of the social element to the group. Habanero isn't all that crazy about the idea. I'm not sure I get excited about teaching this particular thing. Though, we could do the Philippines, China, Spain, Germany, or England and cover our family tree that way.
I need to make a decision, basically, now. *sigh* Ohhhhhhh...the pressure...of a waiver! *lol*
So, what was my dream?
Crazy dream that it was. . .
I wanted to do fun things with my friends! How fun would it be to enjoy a little history with Lahbluebonnet? Wouldn't it be great to do outdoor science activities with NatureNotes? I think of Momflipped's relaxed approach toward school, and I want to learn from her. Blessedwith2angels has such a wealth of ideas for nearly every subject area I'm just blessed to know her and scope out her ideas blog. I want to hang out with Kellieann so I can remember the giggles in life! (She'll be glad to know I'm sure she is quite capable as a teacher, too, but I love to laugh with her!) Jenn inspires me in a different way with her commitment and her heart for her kids and all they do. If she brought her "easy culinary ideas" with her, I'd really be blessed! Boysrus would be the perfect mentor for me, but I'd also enjoy doing current events with her! I plan to take advantage of SuzyScribbles' writing workshop more this next year. If I'm selfish enough, I'd say I would love to have Jeannie Fulbright in my group, too. (Having her science curriculum is good enough, though.) I know I would thoroughly enjoy CrossView, too! She could teach me a thing or two about continuing education (meaning not giving up on home schooling)! *grin* One of my dearest friends would HAVE to be there, too. I couldn't do without encouragement and Ring Ding dreams from Ilovemy3angelbabies! ;')
Actually, every one of my friends would bring just the most interesting shades to my dream group. I figure you all put up with me here, and you probably deserve a medal of honor for that, but each of you is probably more of a blessing than you know! I didn't intentionally leave anyone out. I just figured you all would hate a longer entry than this novel I've already written! :'P
Wouldn't it be fantastic if we all did what we were good at in one spot? (Not sure what I would bring to the mix.) I could teach sign language? I could teach junior high and high school English? Or, I could bring the joke material! :'P I know a bit about rocks. . .and plants. . .and DNA extraction now. . .
If all else fails, I know how to build lovely discussion boards and moderate them. . .which is especially easy when you have no one to moderate. ;') (See link for Titus2Forum.)
