Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

Be Sure Your Sin. . .

Posted in Boy Things
Yes, it will find you out! This particular verse came up today in conversation with my sons in a surprising way. You will remember that this is the week they are taking Stanford tests at the local Christian school. This school just so happens to be the school my kids went to for one year while my husband worked there. Wonderful school. Expensive, but wonderful. (Much less expensive when Daddy works there.)  ;')

Anyway, bear with me as I try to get you up to speed on how we arrived at the sin finding you out part.

We were discussing the snacks they would take with them tomorrow. A water bottle and a snack is basically mandatory for school, I guess. (The things I take for granted!) I mean, when was the last time I packed a snack for the boys as they walked out the door in the morning? Exactly!  *grin*

So, we decided on bananas. Perfect. This is when Bell Pepper has a flashback to his first grade experience at the Christian school.

"No, let's not do bananas! If we do, we could be in big trouble!" he said.

Yes, I had an odd look on my face at the time.

"Don't you remember, Mom? I had a banana at school, and then I put it in my desk. I left it there for a few days, and it made a big mess with lots of bugs over the weekend. It wasn't a good thing!" he reminded me.

Ahhhhh. I get it now.

"Your sin finds you out, Mom. It sure found me out when the teacher opened my desk that Monday morning," he said.

Nothing good comes of a banana in a desk next to workbooks for several days. That teacher has some serious jewels in her crown just waiting for her! I'm positive of it!

Yep. Banana soup. And, waiter, there were serious flies in that soup!

LOL great story!! But UGH, that had to be sick!!

we've certainly gone over that scripture here in our home........we've been going over Phil 2:14.....doing everything w/o grumbling & complaining. Somewhere in the last two weeks, dh & I have noticed a bit of grumbles coming from the children, so to nip that in the bud, we've been at it for two weeks, I think the kids got it! And mom & dad were reminded as well, not to complain.

LOL oh bless his heart. He'll never look at bananas legitimately again. I had banana troubles as a public school teacher. I had one with the rest of my lunch in my tote bag, on the floor, next to my desk, and one of my dear students *stepped* on it. Squished banana. Hmmmmm, no thank you.
Blessings,
Laurie
