Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do! Blessings!

My Babies Are Growing Up!

Posted in Boy Things
It's happening. My boys are suddenly turning some kind of corner in life, and I wasn't prepared. Someone told me years ago that they grow up too soon, but I wasn't convinced. After the last few minutes, I just might be. Friends, my kids are growing up, and I have no idea how to stop it!

Warning: this blog contains "interesting" material that should be read by mature audience members only.

(Now that you all clicked your back buttons. . .)
  :'P

It started innocently enough.

I was casually reading my friend Corey's blog, and thinking about how far we've gotten from our baby days. Truthfully, it was a bittersweet nano-second while I realized we were out of diapers, possibly, for good.

Habanero, at that very moment, decided to count days until his seventh birthday. (He's counted. He knows. He's not letting anyone forget that his special day is coming.) Well, that was all I needed. He was happy dancing all over the kitchen about how short 14 days really is in life. I was lamenting that my boys were no longer babies. Oddly enough, Habanero had no issues with him not being a baby anymore.  :'P

Enter Bell Pepper at the kitchen table. He, of course, was very logical about the whole thing.

"Why don't you just sleep with Daddy again, then," he said, rather loudly.

WHAAAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?!  Hold the phone!!!!! What did he just say?!?!?!?!?!?

"Son, where did you learn that?" I asked, desperately trying to hide my frantic tone.

"Awwww, Mom. I've read it. I read it all the time in the Bible. In 2 Samuel 11, David slept with Bathsheba and she conceived," he said rather matter of factly.

*sigh*

Who said the Bible was a safe book to read?!?!?!  :'O

I guess I should be glad he hasn't found Song of Songs yet?  *shrug*

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness... 2 Timothy 3:16
Wow! The Bible covers sex-ed too :)

*sigh*

A few weeks ago he stumbled across Tamar and Amnon. What do I do with that? I won't stop him from reading his Bible, obviously. I just don't always want him to hit the adult topics at the age of 9 1/2. :'O

That is to funny. I am always amazed at what the kids can come up with even from reading the Bible. Wait until they are teenagers, then they know everything! : )

LOLOLOLOL!! Oh my, now that is one of the best stories I've heard on the subject!

Oh my, you made my evening!

And wild parrots? Are you in the woods? How cool would that be. Maybe you can take your camera out with you sometime and snap a pic for me. :)

LOL The Bible certainly is educational- in so many ways. My son was reading in Revelation on his own the other day, and we had quite the interesting discussion about the end times!

BTW, I'm glad you were touched by my anxiety post. It is something I've been struggling with lately and learning alot!

Thanks for the Wild Parrot info! I mentioned this to my dh last night and he was eager to get more info on it!
Crazy how they suspect they got there. I wonder which theory is true. I did read that some have been spotted here in CO, I'm going to have do a bit more research to see how many have been seen and where.
What a neat sight -- a park full of these pretty green birds. But all that cackling and noise, its a wonder folks are bringing out their BBguns!!
