Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

Eggs-treme Freedom!
Posted in God Things
Day 14. *sigh* What a beautiful thing! We made it! The quail eggs have been turned regularly the best we could. Now, we will see what God has done after the weekend. And, it's a perfect weekend to be free from the eggs-treme sport of egg turning. You see, I have the amazing privilege of serving through worship this weekend at our services. It's an overwhelming blessing. I'm humbled every time.
What is so perfect for me in all of this is the picture God is giving me in my head. Let's see if I can put it into words. (Warning: I will be waxing eloquent . . . or something.) *laugh*
Right now, this very moment, our little quail chicks in the eggs are doing something very important. All this time in the egg, they have been moved by an external force: my hand. In order to remain in the center of the egg and not become stuck to the inside "wall" of their little environment, they depended on my hand moving that egg at reasonable intervals the whole 14 days. If my hand did not turn, the tiny chicks would sink to the bottom of its egg, eventually dying.
How like the eggs are we? We depend on the hand of our Abba Father to keep us in the center of His will. When we drift, we will not die, but it may feel as if we will. The further from the center of God's will we travel, the less sensitive to His whispers we become . . . I become. The fascinating part of all of this for me is: God moves me. He's turning me, changing my orientation to Him, the world, and the people around me as I grow. And, this is all for my own good. I might not be drawn to the changes, but they are necessary for development. He knows what is best for me, and it's a bit like I know what is best for the chicks in the eggs.
This makes me wonder what the chicks might say if they could speak about each time they were turned. Would they release a sigh of contentment? They might say, "Thanks! I needed that." Or, would it go completely unnoticed, but feel "just right" as they slipped back to center? Would they complain about the disturbance in their equilibrium like I often do?
But, this is Day 14. What's so special about Day 14? On this very day, the chicks begin to do something they haven't done the whole time they were inside the egg. The chicks no longer have the option of drifting. There's no room for that now. However they have found themselves in the egg at this point, they are going to have to do something right now if they are healthy and growing. At this time the chicks are moving themselves! They have an instinct given by God to turn their little bodies into just the right position for exiting their cramped little environment. Not one of the chicks is thinking, "The air cell is over here, and I'm going to need that air." Not one is thinking, "If I don't turn this around right now I'm going to suffocate and die." They simply begin to move, to orient themselves in the right way for God's purposes for life. They don't know all the details, they simply get into position. (My little side note is that they have about three days to do this. Three days? Intriguing choice of three days, God!) ;')
I want to think about this more and more each day. Don't I want to be in the center of God's will? When I was younger, that process was more done to me. As I become a little more mature, I realize the part I play in the whole process. Friends, I have a deep desire to get into position today. Do you?
The chicks absolutely need to position themselves rightly to emerge into life. Sadly, those that don't will die. If I set the eggs with the large end down, they would all orient themselves up toward the narrow end. Not good. The chicks will simply turn heavenward before hatching. Isn't that amazing? As any good "stand in hen" for eggs, I have chosen to orient the eggs just right so that "up" is right for them. Now, they must move if they are able.
I need to get into position daily to emerge into life. It's not an air cell I need, though He is the air I breathe moment to moment. This isn't about the fat end of the egg so there is room to pip, though I will have more room to glorify Him from the center of His will. It isn't about orienting myself to the world around me, whichever end is up. This is simply about turning heavenward daily. (Forgive me, Abba, for the ridiculous number of days I have spent absent-mindedly moving through my days without You!)
Do you see it, too?
This is about getting rightly oriented . . . positioned, as it were . . . for LIFE! We are not like the birds given an instinct by God. We have His law written on our hearts to be sure (see Romans), but He has set before us life and death. He implores us to choose life (see Deuteronomy)!
*Ahhhhhh!* Turning heavenward feels so right! As I get ready for this weekend, my goal is to turn heavenward moment by moment. It's all about LIFE.
Blessings to you all this weekend, my friends! Love you!

Yes, we can always make the choice to "turn heavenward" (LOVE that!)...however, HE remains steadfast, which brings this scripture to mind...
James1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
