Welcome to My Blog!
Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!
Blessings!

No Child Left Inside...or Behind?
Posted in Boy Things
Not sure if you will quite understand my title today. It's Friday. We are at the end of a long week. It's been an interesting one, but we have conquered it, since we are "more than conquerors in Christ."
Today is our first day of something resembling spring in a long time. I've been excited to think we might get to ditch our parka-like coats in the near future. :') So, outdoors is my tool today...the incentive for the boys to be productive in the morning and have a fun afternoon outside.
So, spelling is one of my main goals with Habanero today. We are trying to move him along in this area that has not been a complete favorite for some time. Wise mom that I am, I sent the child out to write his words on the deck in chalk. You should know we have been blessed with a rather large (albeit old) deck. A child might do the math and realize there is approximately 500 square feet of area to utilize out there. ;')
And use it he did!
I came out to an excited, bubbly seven year old just beaming over his accomplishment. Yes, the problem word (family) was written no less than 25 times all over the lower deck. Yay! Mission accomplished. Then I took a quick glance at the rest of the deck which had some interesting "notes" in similar chalk.
Daddy must be coming home soon, and Habanero must be excited at the thought. He wrote several "notes" to Daddy on the steps leading up to our back door. (That was so neat for me to see.)
Apparently, the dog had chosen a warm spot to sun herself on the deck. How do I know? Well, a big, chalky arrow pointed to a spot and had the words "Brin's butt" written next to it.
Habanero apparently sat down on the deck at one point, too. Yes, there was another oversized, chalky arrow and "[Habanero's] butt" written there. *sigh*
Well, I don't suspect we will have trouble with words containing a short vowel and two consonants following. Do you? Or, maybe it's just one particular word with a short u and two t's following. *sigh*
Have a great weekend, friends! |
