Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for!
I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all!
This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here.
Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. Please let me know if you do!

Friday, May 16, 2008 Most Embarrassing E-Moment?

I am blushing as I type this. I'm sure you've all had moments that caused that familiar physical response: increased heart rate, blood rushing to the face, and that warm feeling in the moment.
Well, this is probably under the heading of Public Service Announcement/Did You Know. Do with it as you will. It's the real moments in life that I'm sure tickle your funnybone on a Friday, right? Sadly, it's me we're talking about here. *lol*
If you can't laugh at yourself. . .
A little background for you: I recently purchased a dental pick, scaler, and lighted mouth mirror. In truth, two of the tools are for cleaning dogs' teeth, but the mirror was too cool to contribute to their "health care bin" in the basement. I, of course, needed to try it out. With all of the phlegm I've been experiencing in my throat, I wondered if I could actually see it. (Yes, I'm a curious home school mom.)
So, after a few minutes of examination of my own throat, I have the following gems for you:
1. See your doctor regularly. All that "say, 'Ahhhh'" stuff is good practice and beneficial to your throat and muscle tone in that area.
2. When looking at your own throat, maintain a reasonable expectation of the muscle tone, or lack thereof, in your throat. To expect those muscles to do something they don't do every day and hold it for any length of time is a bit too harsh.
3. When your throat and tongue muscles begin to cramp, freeze up, or throb, it's time to end the exploration of that area.
4. Cold water is of benefit, but rest is the key to aiding said cramped muscles. Talking and singing requires the use of the muscles, and you will know which words or lyrics to avoid rather soon after attempting them.
*sigh*
Did you KNOW. . .your throat and tongue muscles are MUSCLES?!
Did you KNOW. . .they work together in saying anything related to "Ahhhhhh"?

I was asked to consider a weekly "Did You Know..." entry in order to further the wisdom and knowledge of my friends in the Blog Universe. Clearly, none of you have the time to explore some of these precious nuggets of wisdom in your own time. I would hate for you to miss out on some of the sage-like brilliance we've added to our repertoire in this house. And you might, if I didn't share it with you. *very big grin*
I might not have weekly entries, but I'll surely be more generous with our "gems" since they appear to be so enjoyable to you. Remember, a diamond is the toughest gem known to man, used in the finest tooling of the hardest materials. These "Did You Know Diamonds" are generally tooling my heart on a regular basis. *grin*
So, without further ado. . .
Friends, did you KNOW that, should you cut a cat's whiskers, it is dangerous to their navigational abilities. Suddenly, you will find the cat having difficulty simply walking a hallway. However, should you cut a dog's whiskers, there will be absolutely no appreciable difference in the dog's navigation. He will STILL run into walls!
*lol*
 Note: Results may vary from canine to canine. The cat will likely inflict pain.

Did you know. . .that an ant can survive in a microwave...for several seconds...repeatedly...on high?
Don't ask me how I know this. Just look at the title of my blog, knowingly, and nod and smile. ;')
