Welcome to My Blog!

Schooling two active boys has never been more... interesting. That's the word I'm looking for! I love my boys! God has given them the blessing of strong, active bodies and minds. We continually pray the first will remain intact, and the second will remain engaged with Him first, and then the school work. You'll meet my sweet sons, both entirely different, but both loving God to the best of their ability in the way He made them. I lovingly refer to them as my Bell Pepper Boy and my Habanero or Hambone. That should say it all! This blog is an eclectic mix. The events, conversations, and the thoughts behind it all will be in here. Every once in a while I'll try to capture something I don't want to forget. I hope you find things you enjoy. A Weekend to Remember

Can I just say that this weekend may qualify for one of the more sweet memories I want to keep and cherish? I don't quite know how to put it into words. There are easy things, and then there are the things that challenge me in every way to put into words.

My Hero has been blessed, big time, by his amazing mom. I won't get into the details on that, but suffice it to say she single-handedly impacted our family in a powerful way in a few sentences. One would think words out of a mouth might be encouraging, sweet, and uplifting. Her words were all of that and more. They reflected generosity and grace I can't even put into words. In the words of my dear friend, Pam, 'What a woman!'

My Hero also surprised me with memory for my computer on Saturday night. I'll just say mbps has new meaning to me! Not only do pages load, but they load, like, in seconds. This doesn't happen in 60 seconds or even 30 seconds. (My kids could learn about responsiveness from my computer now.) What a contrast!

What a weekend! I don't know what to say beyond that. I know my Father "owns the cattle on a thousand hills" in a very real way as I reflect on the last 48 hours or so. How cool!

A Blessing and "The Wonderful Things About My Husband"

I was talking out loud this morning, I guess. Dearest husband overheard me say I didn't know what to write about this morning. He, of course, was more than willing to suggest a solution to my little problem.

"Write about your journey to finding a television, and then write about the wonderful things about your husband," he suggested.

So, here we go friends. . .

Many of you know that we've had some interesting little "challenges" in the last month or so. We are currently celebrating a dry basement. *grin* This left our other little issue: a dying television in the middle of American Idol 7. (I apologize to those of you who are TV-Free or AI-Free zones. We've never made it to that point as a family.) We were seeing David Archuletta in lovely shades of green...and the numbers at the bottom of the screen were unreadable. We knew the television wouldn't change the talent, song choice, or Simon, but we had to do something! *lol*

My normal response to such things is to check the stores. One nano-second later I realized we weren't going to be buying a new television with the prices. So, a used one it would be. I always check the Free-Cycle-like lists, but there wasn't anything there. I resorted to Craigslist next. There I found two things: people selling televisions very cheaply for a reason and people selling very expensive televisions for a reason. *sigh*

After contacting a few people with decent listings in our price range that were pretty far away, one popped up. I was shocked! It was bigger than anything I had seen, a good television, and less expensive than anything I had thought about. (I checked reviews on a used television...that will make some of you laugh.)

Yay, God!!!! We picked up a 36" flat screen tube television a couple hours later from three minutes away!!! It's only two years old, and it was pretty cheap!

And there was much rejoicing! (Insert British accent here.)

Now, as to the wonderful things about my husband. . .

He was the super spouse who was on the receiving end of all my carbon-copied e-mails, ponderings, almost-deals, cancellations, and scheduled time to look at a television. He did not complain. He went to look at it on a break, loaded the behemoth technology in the car, brought it home, and hooked it up. (And it WORKED!)

My husband is awesome! Even when I am hair-brained and half-baked, he manages to roll with it and pull off the near impossible: show me love, honor, respect, and physical strength! Thanks to God for giving me a man who is so wonderful!

He's just so wonderful! :')

And, God is soooooo good!

Now, I wonder what the kids' games would look like on a screen that size. Hmmm. Lego StarWars might be interesting...and there are no boys here right now. *Imagines huge explosions!*
