I have been a medical transcriptionist for several years, and I love it!! I find it so interesting and challenging. It is so interesting to learn more about our bodies and how they work as I'm typing reports. It just amazes me. It makes me want to learn more.
I had resigned my medical transcription jobs when DD was about 10 months old, as I just couldn't keep up with all of my responsibilities anymore, and my DH was wonderful enough to allow me to resign.
But I still get to fill in for another transcriptionist when she is on vacation, and I really enjoy the work. I got to type for two doctors this week, and I have really enjoyed it. It is such an interesting field, and it is a wonderful one to get into because it opens up so many possibilities for working from home, once you get some experience.
I have created a huge word list during all my years of doing transcription, and it makes a great reference tool for me. I'm always adding to it as the doctor's give me new words. The internet is also a wonderful tool for finding new words and especially new drugs, which are too new to be in any book. Oh, what would I do without the internet!
I plan to post my word list here, by letter, for other transcriptionists to reference. I hope to have time for that very soon.
Are there any other medical transcriptionists here? I would love to hear from you!!
