Me? On Wife Swap!? No Thanks!!!

The same week that I am reviewing Created to Be His Help Meet we get a call from an ABC TV producer in New York wanting our family to appear on one of their shows. The pay is awesome. Ten Grand! Wow! Too good to pass up! There's just one problem the want us to appear on Wife Swap! No kidding! We are just laughing ourselves silly over this. Apparently they haven't been reading my blog or they NEVER would have asked. They found us on our Civil War Dad's Website and fell in love with the kiddo's all dressed up. I needed a good laugh today and this was just too much for us! I've never seen the show and I don't really plan on watching it. The name alone makes me crack up!
Needless to say we told them no.

I think they're going the rounds of all the homeschooling bloggers. You're the 4th or 5th I've seen mention it. After the hatchet job that Trading Moms (or it might have even been Wife Swap) did on the last homeschooling family, making them look like freaks, they have got to be desperate to find anyone who will sign on.

The producer left a comment on my other blog and said she went down my blogroll and e-mailed or called the people on it. She also upped it to $20,000!!!

Well, I wasn't on your list, but we got called by Trading Spouses. Same concept, only Fox. And $50,000. Yep, $50k. My husband is definitely for it. He doesn't seem to be as apprehensive as I do; he thinks we'll be the "good" family that they swap for the "bad" one. I'm not so sure. My kids are pretty normal -- meaning they misbehave with the rest of them. I can just see the promos -- "You shut up!" "No, you shut up!" "You shut up to infinity." "You shut up to infinity and beyond!" "There's no such thing as beyond infinity so just shut up!" That would be funny if it weren't all too real :-(. dh is looking at it from a purely practical standpoint. $50k, even after taxes, would mean we're debt free (sans the mortgage), plus we could remodel, and he could put out his next album. The producer seems real eager -- a lot of questions about dh. Maybe she's planning on swapping *him*.
