The store opens tomorrow
less than 1 mile from me.
Yet, another reason to move to North Carolina.

Oh come on! You don't like IKEA? Atlanta's the closest one to us (we're just outside of Tampa) but we had one close by when we lived in Germany, and I LOVED it! Are y'all actually planning on moving to NC or is it just a fantasy?

It's not that I have something against IKEA if it were in Toledo I'd be perfectly fine. But it is literally within walking distance of my house. There is only one exit from the highway to my township. It is always congested with traffic. They are predicting nearly 2 million shoppers a year. This is going to make getting around town difficult. They are bringing in extra police to direct the extra traffc the first month or two. People are camped out already and the TV news has been here the past two days. It's a circus.

Oh, and the part about NC is pure fantasy. No intentions of moving. Just a lot of wishful thinking after our recent trip.

I don't envy you, that's for sure! When Ikea opened in Phoenix it was a circus for months, lines for a mile, backups on the highway, etc.

It's some kind of furniture shopper's Mecca. People intentionally go there to spend the entire day. I just don't get it.

Good luck getting around!!

Shoot. IKEA is grand, but not in my backyard. I totally hear you. Hey - maybe consider moving out to our neck of the woods in sunny California (well, fogged up with marine layer right now... but generally sunny!)

Ack....having it that close to your house will be scary, won't it? The traffic alone will be huge. I understand, though....they are building an entire MALL about two miles away from my house. It's one of the reasons that we are trying to move!
