Someone's Listening

Yesterday, I encouraged mommy bloggers to keep blogging because you never know who might be reading. Well, one day later, I found out how true that is.
Today's Washington Post provides a recap of what the blogs are saying about Linda Hirshman's op-ed and surprisingly, they devoted some space to my post The Wrath of Stay-at-Home Moms.

Karen Braun, who blogs at spunkyhomeschool.blogspot.com, also criticized Hirshman for admitting that she tuned out some critics. Braun is a college-educated mother of 6 who, as her blog name might suggest, homeschools her children. She notes that it might be possible that the "queen bee" of the working woman has been dethroned by a growing number of little bees busy in the blogosphere and she doesn't like it? Today, the voices of stay at home moms can be heard by anyone willing to click over and read what we're saying...Slowly women are catching a vision, one blog at a time, for what their heart told them was true all along - being a wife and mother is the most lucrative career around."The Internet is truly an amazing place. Keep on bloggin'. A collection of bloggers working to share information and thoughts without feeling threatened by differences of opinion will serve our society as whole quite well.

Well, when a thinking woman blogs, people are bound to listen. Thanks for keeping us on our toes. Forcing us to use our brains will help prevent senility, I hope. I was thinking about this the other day, I will be 60 when my youngest child turns 18.
You know... my "Coming Home" story is so different. I adopted as a single woman after my first marriage ended. I had a 20-year career. I came home because I could no longer ignore the Holy Spirit's prompting. But, I was obeying much like my daughter obeys me at times. I didn't know what I would do all day at home.
It took me about a week and a half to change my mind and begin to wonder why I fought coming home so long. What I do at home is so much more fulfilling and significant than what I did when I was in the workplace. I wish I had found your blog years ago...

I love how God is getting this message out there. He is using you to touch the world without having to compromise your family.
BTW...How has life been post-Ikea?

I really appreciate your encouragement. I decided this week I was going to keep writing whether I ever got a comment again or not. It is about all the things you and others speak of: a free and independent voice. Praise God!

Kindred spirit, I'm learning to only drive between certain hours. If I do that it's not that bad. I even made it over there one day with the children. Nice stuff but nothing to write home about.
