The Breakfast of Big Government
Aug. 29, 2005 at 11:29 AM

I have written extensively on a parent's willingness to outsource more and more of their responsibilities to the schools and state. Here comes another example courtesy of Edwonk....The Power Breakfast
When kids head back to school this fall, many will be starting the day off right with a quick, nutritious breakfast --at school. Before that first bell rings, ready-to-eat Breakfast Breaks(TM) will be served in school cafeterias, in classrooms, and even right off the school bus, which many schools hope will increase participation in the federally-funded national School Breakfast Program.
The breakfast of champions courtesy of the federal government. And why are they looking to increase participation in the program?
Why don't they just take the children full time and let the parents check them out like a library book when they want to spend time with them? It seems to be the next logical step don't you think?

"Why don't they just take the children full time and let the parents check them out like a library book when they want to spend time with them?" ...

What I want to know is, where are these kids parents? Don't they WANT to have time with their children? Why do the parents succumb to all of this goverment intervention? Why don't they claim their children? I am ashamed to be part of a country that doesn't value family as God intended it to be.

Spunky --- Please....don't give them ideas!!!!! It's bad enough as it is!
This whole thing is just nuts. It's slowly turning into government boarding school.for all. And the school system says *we're* the radicals? ha!

Point well made!
I recently read an article on outsourcing parenthood in People magazine.
I was so outraged! Outsourcing potty training, teaching your child to ride a bike, and on and on.
This is terrible!
What kind of society are we becoming?!
I feel so badly for these children. All of these "milestone" memories with a paid stranger. What does THAT say for your family love? And self-esteem? (which society seems to be so concerned with)
It breaks my heart.
It's slightly reassuring to come to this blog every now and then and know there are at least a few good people left in the world.

did you see what is IN those breakfast boxes? (I realize this is not the bigger picture but still!)
General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios(R), animal crackers, and Mott's(R) Apple Juice
Yes sir, bring on the white flour and sugar - then we can give them Ritalin for their ADHD symptons too. Sheesh.

Anything to increase dependency on the government. Did you know that most schools in Michigan (and probably elsewhere) get extra fund for each child labeled ADD and ADHD. So anything to increase the funding!
