Blogging Helps

Blogging

I have been reading blogs for about 2 years.  But I only began my blog less than 6 months ago.  I am still learning alot.   There is one resource I would recommend to any new blogger and that is the book BLOG by Hugh Hewitt.  (It is a great book to have your teen read before they begin blogging.  Mine did.)  Some of you may recognize him as a radio talk host.  He is the one of the first bloggers I started reading.   His resources and information were great during the past election.  He is a Christian and an excellent writer, blogger, and lawyer.  The book talks about the history of blogging and its potential for business and personal use.  It's amazing that a medium that has only been in existence for a few years has such a history.  The book is easy to read (I read it in an evening) and is packed with great information.

There is also a piece on blogging in todays Wall Street Journal (reg. req'd) by Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit called We the (Media) People.   Mr. Reynolds is a popular blogger with a huge audience.   Here's a peek at what he wrote.

Quite a few bloggers are moving beyond opinion journalism into firsthand reporting. On my own InstaPundit.com weblog, I feature firsthand reports, often with photos, from places like Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. My "correspondents" are correspondents in the original sense -- people who correspond -- rather than in the modern sense of people with good hair and a microphone. Other bloggers have broken stories from Iraq (involving both alleged war crimes by U.S. troops and large anti-terror marches left uncovered by American media), from the Orange Revolution in Ukraine, and from Canada's government corruption scandals.

He goes then helps to coin a new term called "we-dia" as a replacement for "MEdia".  It's worth reading.

If you would like to meet some homeschool blogger who have been at this a while, you can visit the Online Homeschool Convention that I hosted a few months back on my other blog.   There's lots of different blogs from a variety of perspectives.  (Disclaimer: I don't endorse any of these blogs but suggest them only as a possible resource.)

Happy Blogging

You & your family of bloggers are famous. I do wonder how you all share the computer time. Thanks for all of the info about blogging. We don't have TV so I miss out on some of the latest news.
Blessings,
Nancy
