The Seige of Western Civilization
Nov. 8, 2005 at 8:37 AM
If you are trying to help your children understand world events then I encourage you to get a copy of the video The Seige of Western Civilization by Herb Meyer. Mr. Meyer examines why Western Civilization is under attack and who is attacking us. Quoting from his website, here's how Mr. Meyer explains this threat :
We are under attack from Radical Islam - that's the War on Terrorism. We are under attack from those within the US itself who seek to destroy our traditional culture and our moral values - from those who believe the State is more important than the family or the individual. And we ourselves are acting in a way that will leave our children with a bleak economic future.
I couldn't agree more. But understanding the threat and explaining it all to our children is not always easy. Until we watched this video. Mr. Meyer's 42-minute presentation is well documented and easily understood by any who seeks to understand the truth of what is going on in our world today. Like a network news anchorman, Mr. Meyer takes us through events in history in a clear and concise way. He helps "connect the dots" from the the past to the present. An understanding of Western Civilization is necessary to comprehend what's at stake in the world today. The Seige of Western Civilization explains it all.
Herb Meyer is a former Reagan Administration senior Intelligence official. He is also the author of several books and dozens of published essays about politics and economics. Mr. Meyer is probably one of only a handful who can speak with authority on this subject. His experience and perspective bring the issues facing our society to an understandable level.

I began studying Islam in '96. Thanks for the heads up on the video -- I will be interested to take a look.
Another excellant resource for high school is the video "Israel, Islam and Armageddon" by Dave Hunt. Ironically, my husband and I watched this around 11 P.M. on Sept. 10, 2001. Needless to say, we were watching events unfold on the news the very next day. What timing. As my children sat and watched our President voice "Islam is a religion of peace." they were able to voice back (to the TV) "No it isn't!" I had been studying it since about 1996, and we had discussed it quite a bit before 9/11 ever happened.
One item I would disagree with in Mr. Meyers quote on your blog, is his idea that this is radical Islam. The first lesson, really, is that this is fundamental Islam. The history of Mohommad is not in our history books. The Wars of Apostacy, after Mohommad died, are not heard of. In reality, he was the first Islamic terrorist, and the so called "radicals" are simply acting like their leader. This will be understood watching Dave Hunt's above mentioned video or DVD.

I'll have to ask him about that distinction. I'll ask him about the distinction. Those sound like wondeful resources you mentioned. I'll have to check them out. I'm not that well versed in all of this that's why this video was so helpful to me.

Here is a newsletter that underlines what I am talking about in my post above.
http://thebereancall.org/Newsletters/2001+Newsletters/4488.aspx
It is explained that, as I said, the terrorists are basically fundamentalists. Following the fundamentals of their religion. Mohommad taught them how to act. There are moderate Muslims, but they are NOT acting like their leader. This is truly the heart of much infighting among Muslims themselves. What IS true Islam? Well, one only need to read the Koran, and look at Mohommad historically, and one could see that terrorism is fundamental Islam. It is NOT Islam acting radical. It is Islam acting as it acted in it's early years, and as it is written in it's religious book.
The real heart of Islam's hatred against America has to do with its hatred of Israel, and our support of such. They hate us for other reasons as well, but nothing could be more hated by them than Israel. Still fighting after all these years, just as God said (Ishmael and Isaac).
For a real eye opener, one could go to http://memri.org/ where Middle Eastern news is translated in English -- see the hatred spewed out on Israel and America in their newspapers every day. This is incredible reading.
Another eye opener is to watch Steve Emerson's PBS video (that was called hate propaganda and pulled from the network) where he goes into Mosques IN AMERICA and video tapes Muslim clerics preaching to young Muslims to come along side and "make widows in America." It's called "Terrorists Among Us - Jihad in America." It was filmed in 1994 - the new date on it is 2001 because it was brought back and updated then.
It is a hateful thing to Islam that Israel came back into her land -- not because of the lie of "refugees." http://www.masada2000.org/geography.html
They see themselves as Abraham's rightful decendants, through Ishmael. The "firstborn son." They hate, hate, hate Israel, and us for helping her. I wonder if the "Seige Against Western Civilization" goes into any of this. Does it? Also, if not, consider the countries where anti-semitism is coming into full play again (France). Do they live under threat of terrorism? Are they Western Civilization? I don't know the answers to all these questions, and haven't seen the video you speak of -- that's why I ask. How much is the hatred for Israel brought in, because it is a huge part of it.
Sorry so long ... this is kind of my mission, my heart, where God has led me to learn and understand (How weird is that? When I started discussing this stuff with Muslims in 1996, I had NO understanding whatsoever of the religion or events surrounding it -- it is the very thing that has given me the most excitement for God -- His Sovereignty -- the bigger picture, etc. We read our papers and see prophecy fulfilled in our lifetime. Can you see all nations rising up against Israel before its all over?
Zechariah 12:2-3 Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
I have heard that Israel is on the verge of civil war, and a certain journalist over there has seen with his own eyes a constitution for Judah. This, due to disagreement concerning giving up land. The whole earth has never been gathered together against Judah and Jerusalem to this day ... could we soon be seeing the day when the above prophecy could come true? Not hard to imagine. Of course, I'm a pre-tribber, so I don't think I'll be here ...
Sorry for blogging on your blog (sheepishly slinking away now ....)

blah, blah, blah (sorry!!)

I've been checking back here, and was hoping more people would comment! Would have loved to hear other's thoughts.
I am realizing I jumped the gun. I have had so much exposure to Islam/Muslims, that I took it as all about that. I see now that that is only part of the picture. I am very interested in viewing this at some point.
Another thing I wonder, is, what does he mean by Western Civilization? It seems to many as a no brainer, but does mean different things to different folks. To the Muslims I have had contact with, it seems to mean anything non-islamic. To some it seems to mean anything that isn't the USA. Interestingly, more and more of the world is hopping on the hate America bandwagon. Are we the only "Western World" left? A google search on western civilization brought up some interesting thoughts to ponder.
It seems I'm beating a dead thread, but thought I'd comment anyhow for what it's worth.

You're not beating a dead thread. I'm going to forward all your questions on to Mr. Meyer and I'm sure he will resond.
