I've got a bad case of the blogs!

Blogging

Our computer with dial up service caught a virus yesterday.  That meant we were down to one computer with DSL and one with nothing at all.  Since my husband works from home as a financial planner and has started a blog his work is the priority.   That means my computer time will be more limited for a while.

I had to finish the Blogger of the Week post so I went to a coffee shop that also has internet.  After sending off the post I went home.  I found my mind constantly wondering about my blog all day.  And I was getting a little mad at myself for not being able to concentrate on anything else.  What did I ever think about before I started blogging?   I realized that the computer isn't the only one with a virus.

I think I've coming down with a bad case of the blogs.

As the day went on I was a little more focused.  We went to the library and I was able to check my e-mail for a few minutes.  But then it was off to help the children find their books and head home for supper.  My hubby is having dinner tonight with my dad so I took the children for a swim.  I found myself more relaxed at the pool.  I sat out with Elaina while the other children splashed and played.    What a joy to just sit and watch them!

Blogging is alot of fun.  But I didn't realize how much it has a hold on my thought life.   I realize some of this might be because this site is just getting started and I am involved in the process somewhat.  But I don't want blogging to be the center of my life!  That place is reserved for Christ alone.  He should control my thought life.

So I am thankful that my computer has a virus.  Hopefully, by the time the computer is cured I will be too!  Please pray for a quick healing!

YES! I think there is much to be said for taking a computer sabbatical now and then. I am always STUNNED at how peaceful I feel in my soul during those sabbaticals! All in balance, eh? Your words spoke His heart---thank you, Spunky!

I can't believe how much of my time goes to my blog. I have a feeling I'm going to have to face it sometime soon!

Thanks for sharing honestly.

Hey Spunky,
I'm new to the Blog thing and was just wondering the same thing when TOS sponsored this site. Blogging? And homeschooling? Yikes. I don't have that much time. Eeek. I entered just one page... and that's probably about it for now... LOL... I'm going to enjoy my summer off. I enjoy writing... but am a bit unsure if there is a plus to HS blogs at this point since it takes a LOT of time to read them. Not to mention write them. :0( I would have loved it if TOS did a forum at Delphi Forums or About.com -- but there is already a HS there -- but you gals add so much wisdom and spunk that y'all liven up a forum site. Ah, oh well.

I REALLY do admire your site, tho! Looks like a lot of work for both sites. I have a question for you about the Civil War: do you have any good recommendations for books, videos, and units? And any thoughts on the Revolutionary War for HS? You do such a neat job with living history units.
Thanks in Advance!

...and blogging, specifically, so *I* could write, but I spend hours every day (hours I didn't have to begin with!) reading the wealth of information, inspiration, and encouragement to be found here. If I was putting in the time I had hoped, to writing and building my own blog, I probably wouldn't have time to buy groceries.

I guess it is a good thing we are taking a summer break from schooling. I am hoping I'll learn to discipline my time here more effectively by the time we resume homeschooling next month.

BTW, I love your blog, Spunky!
