Here are some answers to the questions people have asked about my site and the Civil War:
Is that my real house behind the children?
No, it is a home from the 1850's located in a park near our home. I have sewn some of the childrens costumes but not all of them.
Are we reenactors?
Yes, we are Civil War Reenactors. We also do living history presentations. My husband also does a motivational talk for men called Civil War Dads dedicated to inspiring men to lead, serve, and sacrifice for God, their country, and their family.
How did we get involved in the Civil War?
We found a diary from my husband's great great grandfather who fought for the 73rd Ohio in TN. It was all in code and we spent nearly a year transcribing it. My husband has always been a history buff and this just took hold of him and the rest of us.
Do you have any recommendations for books, videos, or unit studies on the Civil War?
Since we do alot of living history and my husband is a Civil War nut we have never actually done a unit study. I guess because we have lived it, heard his presentations, etc. so much we just learned it by osmosis. But we have read quite a few things. I'll try and get a list together soon.
Why do I call myself Spunky?
It is a family nickname given to me by my father when I was 17 or 18 years old. My husband and neices and nephews all call me that so it just seemed to fit. I didn't make it up just for a blog identity. It is part of my identity.
What do I look like?
Here is my photo.
