UC -vs- Christian Curricula

Homeschooling
If you're not familiar with the case, The First Amendment Center has an excellent summary of what is at stake for both sides. UC wants the freedom to determine academic standards but the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) views this a "religious discrimination" based on curriculum content that is religious in nature. The texts in question are mostly Bob Jones and Abeka . Quoting from the First Amendment Center website,
The case could send a chilling message to private religious schools and homeschoolers nationwide. Keep an eye on this one.Concerned about this slippery slope, ACSI hopes to stop what it characterizes as 'religious discrimination' against Calvary before the problem spreads to other schools and states. It's true that Calvary remains free to teach these courses and students are free to take them. But the fact that the courses don't count as a college-preparatory requirement for admission to UC puts Calvary students at a distinct disadvantage.
At lot is at stake for both sides. If the university's decision to reject these courses is upheld, ACSI fears that religious schools throughout the nation will be pressured to make sure that course offerings aren't "too religious" to qualify for consideration at public universities. But if ACSI prevails, UC worries about interference with the university's right to establish academic standards for admission.

this is actually in regards to German education....I could not get the trackback to work (I have done it before). At any rate, my first post is up regarding the German education system...still have a lot to talk about, but this will do for now.

Does the outcome of this case carry with it the possibility of changing the requirements for privately funded and Christian colleges? I just don't understand since they are not funded by the government. I'll have research this topic a bit, I'm not familiar with the laws or standards that govern higher education. Nows the time to learn I guess! :o)
Your post "Fourth Purpose Schooling" w/r to "Mr. Gatto" is a very good read!
I enjoyed my visit here, your blog is very well organized and you've made it easy for fellow bloggers to make themselves at home! I'll be visiting again.
A Happy Weekend to You!

The outcome of this shouldn't affect those insitutions directly that I can tell. However, the UC system does affect what other colleges around the country might do based on their lead.

ok, rather lengthy explanation of the whole "Du bist Deutschland" thing up now...quite a few flag raising references to New Age doctrine.
