Contest - Best Parenting Moment
Through it All
Throughout the years of raising our children to adulthood, there have been four goals that we have focused on, each of which has a strong Scriptural foundation. Love of family, hard work, self-sacrificial love, and doing what is right, regardless of consequences, are our top priorities as a family and in our education. When God judges our schooling efforts, I do not believe He will think it of any great or lasting significance that my children had high ACT scores, were awarded college scholarships, or even if they made honor roll grades.

Parenting Moments in the Wee Small Hours
It's 5:31 and Emma and her dad have both headed to work.
This is quite normal for Patrick, but not for young Emma.
This morning in the dark, I heard her quietly going from her bedroom to the bathroom. Bump, bump went her door.
Quietly a thought came into my mind. It started as a thought and quickly became a small fear.
The Cappucino Life
Last night my infant son resisted sleep with a determination not usual to his mellow nature. I nursed him and nursed him, rocked him, laid him on my chest and patted him, told him in no uncertain terms that I was displeased with his behavior, but all to no avail. He didn’t want to sleep. Finally, at 2.30 am, he dozed off. At 3 am, our alarm clocks rang and my husband and I got up to get him off to work

Good Citizenship learned by example after Hurricane Katrina
After watching the mayhem unfold after Hurrican Katrina and discussing it with my son he went to his room and came back with boxes of toys and clothes that he wanted to donate to displaced children now residing in Houston. I was proud of him and profoundly touched by his generosity. He even suggested adopting a child who had lost his or her parents in the storm. He preferred a brother since we've already got boy stuff he could share.

Best Parenting Moment So Far...
Parenting is not for the feint of heart. To be honest, I actually wasn't sure that I wanted to jump on the "bringing a child into the world" wagon. When I thought about raising children, all that came to mind was the inevitable question, "Can I really do this and do it well?" My husband and I talked back and forth about raising a family and he finally convinced me that I would make a great mom.
Principled Discovery
This morning during worship, we began singing "Shout to the Lord." Somewhere in the refrain, I felt tears welling up in my eyes and I started to get choked. I don't usually cry. Not even during those "chick flicks" my husband teases me about. And it had nothing to do with the song really. I like that one, but it is not usually one that evokes much emotion for me. But I had just changed my ds2's messy diaper and returned him to the two year old room. The teacher mentioned what a sweet boy he was and commended him on his manners. I smiled, praised him and went to service.
Homeschooling From the Heart
Just the other day, I was able to witness my son sow a seed of kindness that would warm any mother's heart.

Some of the best homeschooling moments are not in our lesson plans
Some of my favorite moments as a homeschooling mom have been totally spontaneous. They weren’t part of a lesson plan, or anything I had prepared for in advance, but they happened because of homeschooling and the quality time I am able to share with my children. As Emily and I prepare for a trip to

Children and Bible Study
I had the most amazing time doing bible study today. The neighbor's daughter(8 yr old) came over and asked if she and the little boy across the street could do bible study with us today.

The little lady
First of all, dd8 is really into her garden. All I have to do is mention that she should go harvest, and off she runs and is soon back w/ a bucket of green beans and some peas.
He is just the cat's meow! He goes to work every day, whether he feels like it or not, out of his love for us. Then he chooses to come back home to us when he gets off when there are 1,000,000 other things a man might want to do. He also has this really sweet bedtime routine with our boys....
Another great homeschooling website is Christian Homeschool Fellowship on the Web. As I was reading and seeking some hope to help me with my demanding, difficult 2 year old, I read a post mentioning Tomato stake parenting. I hadn't ever heard that phrase before and it peeked my interest.
