Oct. 16, 2007 - Autumn is finally here

It's raining outside and the temperature is finally starting to lower. It's a beautiful time of year but I do miss the growing season and the sunny days. This is about when I start getting cabin fever. :)
I seem to get more time to cook as I'm sure most moms do when it starts cooling off. I wanted to post one of our favorite recipe's that I don't think is one you would hear about unless you're familiar with this type of cooking. Have you ever heard of cooking en papillote? Well a much easier and American name for it is parchment packet cooking. Our favorite is called Moroccan Chicken Packets. If you click on the link you can see that there is a video with it. One word of warning, some of the advertisements aren't wholesome and you might want to turn your monitor off during them. www.marthastewart.com/portal/site/mslo/menuitem.fc77a0dbc44dd1611e3bf410b5900aa0/
or you can see a great video from allrecipe's.com: allrecipes.com/HowTo/Cooking-in-Parchment-Paper-Video/Detail.aspx
If you like chicken, loads of flavor and don't mind cumin you might like these packets. For the sake of simplicity I actually do one large packet per 6-7 pcs of chicken with no problems. Oh and it's gluten-free so no problems that I know of for those avoiding carbs or gluten.
One more thing, we finally received some of our books on learning piano at home. It's not hard for us to learn a lot since we're so new at it. It's encouraging to have some materials now and Alexis is excited to getting started.
God Bless, Pam

Thanks for the tip allrecipies demo with salmon sounds yummy!
We love salmon and that sounds like a neat way to seal in the flavors. I wonder how dif it will taste compared to using foil?

Just stopping by chance to say that I've enjoyed reading your blog. Thanks for the recipe. And also we love the Maxwells. I just finished reading the "Homeschooling with a Meek and Quiet Spirit", it was awesome! I would love to check back with you often.
Blessings to your homeschool,
Melissa
