Feb. 11, 2008 - Why do I ever cook basic American foods?
Honestly, the more I look into ethnic foods the more I wonder why I ever cook anything else? I wonder if anyone else feels this way? I love trying new foods. Our favorites are Mediterranean it would seem but often other types of food look very good to try as well. We all like Kalamata olives and fresh mozzarella with fresh veggies or hummus and pita so I guess it's no surprise. Here's our Moroccan Chicken dish that we all like: Recipe was here: www.homeschoolblogger.com/stillearning/409707/
Do you like Pita bread? What do you think of this blog and the recipes? She has an easy Pita Bread recipe this week. http://arabicbites.blogspot.com/
Flavorful chicken and rice? Her Saudi Kabsa also looks good if you scroll down.
Do you like to try new desserts? Like light and fluffy pancakes with a sweet filling? How about this one? arabicbites.blogspot.com/2007/06/ataif-bil-ashta.html
A really good looking Flax seed bread recipe the quality of Panera bread? I'm planning on trying this one as soon as the bread in our freezer is eaten up: www.thefreshloaf.com/recipes/flaxseedwheatbread

You have made me very hungry....can you use other chicken in that recipe. I just can't eat legs, there is something about the taste of them that even with a lot spices I can't get past. I wouldn't mind trying it though with some chicken breast pieces?
God bless,
Sarah

I don't see why not. The only thing is that you would need to reduce the cooking time...and use less spice on each piece of meat. The legs are very well done as you can see here so they are very tender. If you were using white meat I would try to cut back on the cooking time and if you have a meat thermometer see if it reached 190 before pulling it out.

That does look yummy! Another great thing about many ethnic dishes is economy. Beans, rice , potatoes- simple whole foods jazzed up with wonderful spices. I call it peasant food, but it tastes good enough for kings!

No coffee! It is strong black tea that they usually like to drink! My husband is Russian and they drink alot of tea. We actually drink mostly herbal tea, but the children beg for "Russian tea" as they call it as my husband makes it very sweet!
Your recipe looks so good! I want to make pita bread, but have not tried yet!
