At first I didn't even know people did storytelling as a profession! I didn't even know it existed! When I think of storytelling I think of Gramps telling stories of the good ol' days or sitting around a campfire telling scary stories...but it is more than that. It is a performance art. It is sharing a part of yourself really...relating to people through story. You can write your own stories, tell a funny family story, or revive a folktale or fairytale in a funny way (or just the way it was written originally). There are almost no rules to what you can tell...except that it is not like theater...as in you don't use a script you just tell it. It's like when you tell your friends about the time you tripped in front your whole class. You tell it once and the second time it won't sound exactly the same. The whole skeleton of the story is the same but the details may be different every time. You are also allowed in storytelling to...stretch the truth of course...like Bil Lepp. You can stretch it as far as you want...;) Now that I have done storytelling I love it. It is the perfect combination of my two greatest loves. Theater and writing. I still will participate in theater and still write but I will be a storyteller too. I want to share my stories with people. I want to entertain people, make them laugh, cry and think. I can do that through storytelling. And it is a great feeling when your audience is very responsive. If any of you want to more info on storytelling you can go to NYSS or KSA. I hope I explained everything okay. If you have any more questions just ask. :) ~Emilee |

...and tomorrow at 6AM I am going home. I miss it really...I miss my friends, my room, the hypnotic sounds of the swearing parents next door, the barking dogs, the sugar free candy...*sighs* this has been a great vacation but now I just want to go home! I'm excited to go home. But my vacation could be considered a time of passage for me...I have realized several things...learned things about myself which is good. I have realized that I have an Uncle Benji and an Uncle Paul who are pretty much awesome! I have gotten to see my childhood haunts and homes. I have also had some a-w-s-o-m-e deep-dish, double-cheese, Chicago-style pizza...and many other things...and once I get home I will grab my USB cable and upload some photos! Woo-hoo! It has been weird and kinda cool, after almost 10 years, seeing my Mom's side of the family. Most of them are Irish and pretty cool...and so interesting. :D I also got to see an old friend. Thanks Regina! That was fun seeing you again! So...that is a long story short of my nine days in Chicago...it. has. been. amazing. ~Emilee P.S. Also...thanks everybody for your hospitality, kindness, pampering, driving etc...it has made this trip great. |

With mwa! :p ~Emilee |
1. I have been able to actually use a shower only since a few days ago...:p all we had for the longest time was just a clawfoot tub. The people I tagged are... 2. I just bought the video (yes...actual video...) of The Hound of the Baskervilles today. Yay! 3. I'd rather watch two hours of Murder, She Wrote than Lost or House or any of those other shows that "normal" teenagers watch. :p 4. If reading cereal boxes is a quirk that's my quirk. ;) 5. I am the only person in my family who can't roll up their tongue. 6. Six is my favorite single number. | ||

Well...today I actually watched Pirates of the Caribbean...yeah I know. I'm shocked too. I told myself I never ever was going to watch it but I did and it made me laugh. I enjoyed it and it was better than I thought it'd be. But I didn't just watch it for the popular actors...;) Also I watched Becoming Jane...I really hated it. It was way too sad. :(Even though it had Anne Hathaway in it...it really depressed me. But if I rewind a bit....this morning it snowed. Glorious, glorious snow!!!! And what my two brothers and me did was walk around town while it snowed. We stopped at the library, went to Mickey D's...*sighs* it was so fun. Also church tonight was very, very good. The message was just what I needed to hear and I feel so full...God is good. :) ~Emilee

It snowed today. A little bit. But it was enough to make me not want to leave my warm bed. But inevitably I had to because we had to go to church. Church was really good today and afterwards we went out to eat with friends. Eating with friends is something we haven't done in a while. Eating out anyhow. Besides that...I thought I'd post a few games I think you should play...here are the links below.
Have fun! ~Emilee |

...it is cold, cloudy and icy! The sun cannot be seen behind the dismal clouds but I am not depressed. Today has been a relaxing day.
I had the opportunity to play my new PS2 video game Dark Cloud. It is pretty awesome so far. ;) And I usually hate PS2 video games! I much prefer Nintendo where you can bonk the little goombas over the head with large wooden hammers. *sighs*
We also had KFC today which is very rare. After hearing Bil Lepp, at the storytelling festival, talk of the days when he worked at KFC...I was a little hesitant to eat it. But it tasted as good as ever so I shoved the thoughts of a brick of lard in the back of KFC from my mind.
I hope your day is sunnier and that's all I have to report on my blog.

*squeals* I am back! The whole weekend went great! I don't believe I will ever...ever be the same again...in a good way! Here let me tell you how it went! When we (me and my family) left early Wednesday morning some of our county was in ruins from the tornado the previous night. None of our close friends were hurt as far as we knew but most of the roads were blocked. Thankfully our street wasn't hit...but our church was hit pretty bad...this is what our sign out front looks like... ![]() "Today is a wonderful, one-of-a-kind gift from God" I won't go into what we did on the trip down to Pigeon Forge because it was long...and tedious...but I will give you an overview. It was long, we ate, we slept, we laughed insanely, we marveled at the mountains, we complained, we asked for directions...we arrived. All together it took about 7 long hours. The hotel was very nice. Very nice. We got our room and immediately Ryan (my 11-year-old brother) won me a squishy puffer fish toy from the game room. We went up to our nice room and filled it with our junk (luggage). We had to go to the lobby quickly because it was time to meet the other finalists. Let me give you their names... TANDEM Sarah and Sarah- TN Catherine and Tyler- FL Claire and Brenna- TX Brackon and Jordan- KY ELEMENTARY Hannah- TN Ruthanna- TX Ke'Ara- FL Chris- NM MIDDLE SCHOOL Aubrey- UT Will- SC Keith- TX Maya-WA HIGH SCHOOL Joanna- MD Emilee- KY Rixon- SC Todd- NC The whole night was spent listening to an explanation of why were we at the festival as finalists. Elizabeth (the lady in charge) made it clear that it was not a competition! We were all winners and we were all awesome. That's why we were chosen to come. I got to meet several pro storytellers and they were wonderful to listen to. One storyteller looked exactly like my Uncle though. Also another storteller (Carmen Agra Deedy) and author said this, "Dear Buck," Buck being our KY state representative and another pro storyteller, "Your kids were incredible. I dropped in on the NYSS (national youth storytelling showcase) concert yesterday afternoon, planning to listen for a bit, then take a nap before our evening event; instead,I was so bowled over, I stayed the full three hours. Please tell the kids I thought they were incredible. Let me know if there is any way in which I can help in the future. Warmly, Carmen 'Anyone harboring doubts about the future of storytelling should hear three brilliant kids from Kentucky. Another generation of storytellers is on its way to Jonesborough––hallelujah!'" It was so fun...life changing and even though I didn't win grand torchbearer (which is first place) and even though I didn't win second place, I am now considered a professional storyteller! If I haven't answered questions any of you want answered...ask away! ~Emilee P.S. For those of you who know Maynard Moose (Willy Claflin) I got to meet him! He's awesome. ![]() |

Hello! This is NoseGuy (aka Emilee). I had a blog before but I decided to make a fresh new one! Today has been a very nice day, including the weather. Mom, Dad and Ryan went out of town to buy clothes. So it has just been me and my little bro hanging around the house. Our activities around the house consist of poptarts, Spongebob, Heroes of Might and Magic, and F.U.N.
Hope all you out there are having a good day too. :D
