Jun. 15, 2008 - Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to my DH

To the man who held my hand and dried my tears when our first daughter died.

To the man who held my hand and assured me everything would be alright when I went into premature labor with our second daughter.

To the man who didn't tell our DD was close to death her first night in the neonatal unit, because he knew she would pull through.

To the man who held our DD so tender the first time he got to hold her.

To the man who helped feed, diaper, and bath her.

To the man who read her bedtime Bible stories to her before bed.

To the man who stayed up all night with her after I was up with her for 3 night straight when she sick and still went to work the next day.

To the man who played legos with her and dressed her dolls.

To the man who taught her how to catch a ball, to ski, and fish.

To the man who kept me from pinching DD's head off when she misbehaved.

To the man who left work early to come home to deal with a rebellious 13 year old who had put her mother at her wits end.

To the man who had the courage and calmness to drive with her when she got her permit.

To the man who took off from work to take her to get her driver's lisences.

To the man who let tears run down his cheeks when he read a special prayer at her graduation.

I couldn't think of our better father and example of Christian manhood for our daughter to have. I love you.

Happy Father's Day to the other 2 Dads In My Life

To my daddy, I admire you so much. You are a great example of a godly man. I love and in some ways I will always be your little girl. Thank you for being such an involved granddad to our DD.

To my FIL, I thank you for your son and for making me part of your family. Thank you for being such a wonderful grandfather to our DD.

Mar. 1, 2008 - Not Complaining Challenge

Day 4 and 5 of the Challenge

Yesterday went very well. DH was very understanding of me having no energy. He didn't mind the messy house or tired wife. Today went well also. I did have to give myself a check one time when he was working on something in the kitchen. I tried to make sure to go out of my way to do things for  him and ask him if he needed any help.

Feb. 28, 2008 - Not Complaining Challenge

Day 3 of Not Complaining

I have to admit I had one minor slip yesterday. It wasn't really complaining, thouhg. I said something in picking but it wasn't uplifting or encouraging. Like Tami said in her post tonight, it isn't so much what you say but how it is said that counts. (Do you how many times I have said that to our DD?)

Today was much better. Although I subbed today and was tired, I didn't slip. We had a nice evening.

All tired out now. Going to bed. Good Night!

Feb. 27, 2008 - No Complaining Challenge

Day 2 of No Complaining

Today is Day 2 of not complaining about anything my DH does or says. Yesterday went well. There was one time something started to slip, but I caught myself. This afternoon will require alot of work from me. There are certains times when I am more impatient than ususal, if you know what I mean. So please pray for me.

Feb. 26, 2008 - Transform Your Marriage

The Not Complaining Challenge

I am joining a friend of mine's challenge, not to complain about anything our DHs do. She has been doing this for about 2 weeks. You can read about the challenge here.

How often do we nitpick on things our DHs do. In a world where men are constantly being torn down, we shouldn't be doing that to our DHs. We need to build them up and encourage them. My friend has reaped from her effort.

I am starting today. Pray for me, because I can nag with the best of them.

Nov. 20, 2007 - Our 20th Wedding Anniversary

This morning, my DH woke me to say good-bye for he was leaving for work. He woke me up with these words, "Will you marry me?" I said "YES, I will marry you today. 20 years from now and 20 after that and 20 after that and 20 after that."

20 years ago on this date, we were married. We were so very young. DH was 2 months away from turning 18 and I had just turned 18 in August. DH was still in high school. I was a freshman in college. We had wanted to get married after we had been dating for 3 months. Somehow, we just knew we were meant to be. We have been married for more than half our lives. There are times I don't remember ever not being married. Those childhood days seem so very far away.

DH and I met in junior high school. My first memory of him was when he was in 8th grade and I was in 9th grade. I thought he was the most obnoxious, crude boy I had ever met. Fast foward to high school, my senior year, his junior year. We had been in band together for a year and my senior year, we became good friends. He helped nurse my broken heart. We began to see each other in a new light. He hadn't really liked me in junior high either. At the time, I was torn between him and one of his friends. A bunch of us had planned a group date to the movies the Saturday after our Christmas break started. Somehow, it turned out that it was only us and another couple. The night of our first date was Dec. 20th. By New Years Eve, he had my class ring. I received his in Feb. He had just ordered it and never wore it. By the end of March, we were ready to be married. We knew our parents would never allow it. So, we waited.

Certain events took place that made it possible for us to get married and have been happily married for 20 years. It hasn't always been a walk in the park. There have been plenty of knock down drag outs but we have always made up. I told DH I wouldn't change anything except for the death of our 1st daughter.

I want to take a little time to honor my DH. I want to honor him for being a wonderful daddy. I want to honor him for being a hard-working provider. I want to honor him for being our family's spiritual leader. I want to honor him for taking up the mantle of head of household although at times I have rebelled against it. I want to honor him for putting me in my place when I needed to be put there. I want to honor him for beong a loving, caring, thoughtful husband. I love you and am proud to be your wife.
