May. 12, 2008 - A Belated Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day

A late Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. I hope you had a special, relaxing day. My DH and DD did their best to make mine a great day.

They fixed breakfast for me. We had livermush, eggs, cinnamon rolls, and fresh strawberries. (I helped a little, not much.) They took care of all the clean-up, so I had a relaxing time getting ready for chapel.

At chapel every mom received a carnation. Our pastor preached an excellent sermon on the job of mothers/parents to raise the children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. He said it is not the job of the schools, the government, or the media to raise our children. It was ours, but if we didn't do that job these other institutions would, to our children disadvantage. I hoped it sank in for all the other parents as it did with me. Although our DD is 18, I know she is still under our guidance until we turn it over to her future husband. We still have a job to do. I wished so many family and friends could have heard the sermon. It was one of the best Mother's Day sermons I have heard in a long time.

After chapel, we headed home to get things ready to take up to momma's for a cookout. We fixed homemade lemonade. I got lettuce from our garden to take for our hamburgers. Most of my mom's family was there. We had an enjoyable time, despite the much needed rain we were getting. We couldn't stay the whole time. We had to head over to DH's parents house to wish his mother a Happy Mother's Day and ice cream cake. Our nephew showed his new trick. He has learned to crawl forwards and is getting into everything. I spent a long time holding the little snuggle bunny. He found my finger and used it for his teething ring. His 2 bottom front teeth are in. He is trying to cut some more.

Back home, I washed my hair hoping it would help me get over the headache that had been gradually creeping up on me all day long. DH took a little cat nap. DD washed up dishes again and fixed herself supper. DH popped us popcorn later to enjoy while we watched a little TV. Since my sinsuses felt packed, I took 2 Benadryl. Needless to say, I had a good night's sleep.

Monday Meanderings

Bible Study: I haven't been very diligent in this area. I plan on starting on Jeremiah, 3 chapters a day.

Monday- Jeremiah 1, 2, & 3

Tuesday- Jeremiah 4, 5, & 6

Wednesday- Jeremiah 7, 8, & 9

Thursday- Jeremiah 10, 11, & 12

Friday- Jeremiah 13, 14, & 15

Must Do List: 1. I need make 8 graduation invitations.

                    2. I need to set flowers out in pots.

                    3. Give dogs worm pills.

Errand List: DD and I need to go to Party City to pick out tableclothes, napkins, crepe paper, etc. for her graduation celebration.

Raising a godly daughter: Get her started working on her embroidering again. Make out a new chore list for her. Summer is coming and with it new responsibilites.

Project List: I want to get our closet dusted, vacuumed, and straightened up. I have to get some winter things put back up.

Puffed Up Like A Peacock

I know PRIDE is a sin. However, I am proud of myself right now. I am going to brag about my accomplishment. This has been an area I have been struggling in. For at least today, I have vanquished a foe. I washed 2 loads of clothes today. So what, you may be asking? We wash clothes every day. I do, too. What is so special about these 2 loads of clothes is; they are washed, dried, folded, and put away. On the same day. They aren't laying in a chair waiting to be folded up. They are finished!

Lord, please forgive me for my little indulgence in pride. Amen!

Mar. 24, 2008 - Monday Meanderings & More Than Rubies

Monday Meanderings

We are not having school this week. I always use the week of Easter to Spring clean. I plan on doing so this week. I don't have everything planned out yet, but I wll let everyone know when I do.

BIBLE STUDY: I need to quit putting off reading God's word every day. I need to make it a daily habit. I plan on finishing up Isaiah this week and move on to Jereimah.

Monday: Read Isaiah 50 & 51, w/ study notes

Tuesday: Read Isaiah 52, 53, & 54, w/ study notes

Wednesday: Read Isaiah 55, 56, & 57, w/ study notes

Thursday: Read Isaiah 58, 59, & 60, w/ study notes

Friday: Read isaiah 61, 62, & 63, w/ study notes

Saturday: Read isaiah 63, 65, & 66, w/ study notes

MUST DO'S: Since we are Spring cleaning , the must do's for the week are keeping things picked up/ put away and keeping up with laundry. The only other must do is the pile of paperwork I mentioned in an early post.

GOALS: To Spring clean the laundry room, guest bathroom, master bedroom, and master bathroom. I will tackle the rest of the house next week.

RAISING A GODLY DAUGHTER:There are several things DD can do this week to help with Spring cleaning. She also needs to work on her calligraphy and embroidering for KAH.

PROJECT LIST: Spring clean

More Than Rubies

I feel that I am on a much more even keel than I was last week. I have dug myself out of that hole with alot of help from the good Lord and alot of praying. I have a handle on some of the things taht had gotten out of control. I don't feel like I am flying into a thousand peices.

I do have another confession to make. I was a complete failure on the not complaining about anything your husband does challenge. I had several bad days and  my sharp tongue once again reared its ugly head. DH has had several stressful days. When he is stressed, he takes it out on me. He doesn't mean to and I know that but I react to it instead of understanding it. So that is my "More Than Rubies" task for this week. To bite my tongue, be more understanding of DH, and not complain to him or anyone about anything he does. I need to honor him, encourage him, and uplift him. I love him heart, body, and soul. He deserves so much better.

Mar. 10, 2008 - Monday Meanderings

Monday Meanderings

Bible Study:

I didn't do to well with my Bible Study last week. I manage not to do this like I should. I put this on the back burner until I think I will have the time for it. I know it should be my first priority. This a my main goal for the week, to read the Bible every morning.

Monday- Isaiah 44 w/ study notes

Tuesday- Isaiah 45 & 46, w/ study notes

Wednesday- Isaiah 47 & 48, w/ study notes

Thursday- Isaiah 49 & 50, w/ study notes

Friday- Isaiah 51 & 52, w/ study notes

Must Do's:

Due to a rainy, windy Saturday, I was unable to set out onion bulbs and sow seeds. This is my one must do for the week.

Goals:

This is going to be a very busy week. So I am keeping my to do list small and keeping things managable.

1. Make sure house is tidied up. Keep things in their proper place.

2. Keep the laundry caught up and put away.

By keeping my Must Do's and my Goals to a minimum, hopefully I won't get overwhelmed.

Raising a godly daughter:

1. Make sure she is continuing to work on pillowcase.

2. Print off quaterly Physics test for her.

3. Go through menu see which meals she can prepare.

Project List:

1. Use the time I won't be spending on cleaning the house to get caught up on paperwork and my Home Management Binder.

Please keep in your prayers this week. I had several bad days toward the end of last week. I will need the prayers to get through this week with my insanity intact. LOL.

Mar. 3, 2008 - My 1st Monday Meanderings

Monday Meanderings

Bible Study:

I have been reading in Isaiah, in a King James Study Bible, one chapter a day with study notes. I want to increase to 2 chapters a day. (That is my hope, anyway.)

Monday-Isaiah 40 & 41 w/ study notes

Tuesday-Isaiah 42 & 43 w/ study notes

Wednesday-Isaiah 44 & 45 w/ study notes

Thursday-Isaiah 46 & 47 w/ study notes

Friday-Isaiah 48 & 49 w/ study notes

Must Do's:

1.Go comparsion shopping, visit local butcher shop & produce shop, trying to save money on groceries.

2.Set out onion blubs, sow radish & lettuce seeds.

3.Go shopping for dress for DD to wear on Resurrection Sunday.

4.Empty water from rain barrel into buckets, expecting more rain tomorrow.

5.Water pansies in pots & lavender in pots.

Phone Calls To Make:I hate talking on the phone so I put off making phones until I can't wait any longer.

1.Call chiropractor to make an appointment for Tuesday.

2.Call pharmacy to get prescription renewed.

3.Call the Board of Elections to see what DD needs to register to vote.

4.Call to order a dress for me to wear on Resurrection Sunday.

5.Call my cousin to ask if there is anything I can do to help with her father in hospital.

Raising a godly daughter:

1.Have her start working on the pillowcase she is embroidering on for KAH.

2.See which supper from menu she can prepare all by herself & give her instructuions on how to prepare.

Project List: Things I would like to accomplish.

1.Scrub shower walls in DD's bathroom.

2.Clean leaves & yard waste from around blackberry briars.

I decided to join Monday Meanderings to see if it would help me keep on track. The past few weeks have seemed really hectic to me. I need to focus and I hope this will help me.

Not Complaining Challenge

Sunday was day 6 of my challenge. I didn't do so well yesterday. I was tired and didn't feel very well, but I know that was no excuse. I complained about 2 things he did. I may have complained more, but I can't remember. Today is another day. I know DH forgives as well as God. I WILL do better this afternoon.

Blinkie Bio

I will not post my Blinkie Bio today. I will post it tomorrow. If you noticed I changed my winter blinkies for spring ones. I have given up on seeing anymore snow, but I would still love it if it would snow a foot.
