May. 12, 2008 - A Belated Happy Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day
A late Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there. I hope you had a special, relaxing day. My DH and DD did their best to make mine a great day.
They fixed breakfast for me. We had livermush, eggs, cinnamon rolls, and fresh strawberries. (I helped a little, not much.) They took care of all the clean-up, so I had a relaxing time getting ready for chapel.
At chapel every mom received a carnation. Our pastor preached an excellent sermon on the job of mothers/parents to raise the children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. He said it is not the job of the schools, the government, or the media to raise our children. It was ours, but if we didn't do that job these other institutions would, to our children disadvantage. I hoped it sank in for all the other parents as it did with me. Although our DD is 18, I know she is still under our guidance until we turn it over to her future husband. We still have a job to do. I wished so many family and friends could have heard the sermon. It was one of the best Mother's Day sermons I have heard in a long time.

After chapel, we headed home to get things ready to take up to momma's for a cookout. We fixed homemade lemonade. I got lettuce from our garden to take for our hamburgers. Most of my mom's family was there. We had an enjoyable time, despite the much needed rain we were getting. We couldn't stay the whole time. We had to head over to DH's parents house to wish his mother a Happy Mother's Day and ice cream cake. Our nephew showed his new trick. He has learned to crawl forwards and is getting into everything. I spent a long time holding the little snuggle bunny. He found my finger and used it for his teething ring. His 2 bottom front teeth are in. He is trying to cut some more.
Back home, I washed my hair hoping it would help me get over the headache that had been gradually creeping up on me all day long. DH took a little cat nap. DD washed up dishes again and fixed herself supper. DH popped us popcorn later to enjoy while we watched a little TV. Since my sinsuses felt packed, I took 2 Benadryl. Needless to say, I had a good night's sleep.

Puffed Up Like A Peacock
I know PRIDE is a sin. However, I am proud of myself right now. I am going to brag about my accomplishment. This has been an area I have been struggling in. For at least today, I have vanquished a foe. I washed 2 loads of clothes today. So what, you may be asking? We wash clothes every day. I do, too. What is so special about these 2 loads of clothes is; they are washed, dried, folded, and put away. On the same day. They aren't laying in a chair waiting to be folded up. They are finished!
Lord, please forgive me for my little indulgence in pride. Amen!
