May. 16, 2009 - What's For Supper Saturday

What's For Supper Saturday

Hello, everyone! It is menu posting time. I was so busy last Saturday, I didn't have a chance to post my menu last week. The whole menu changed anyway . Louise posted her menu for last week. I also missed linking one of menus so check it out here. I also missed posting one of Andrea's menus. Check it out here. If you want to join us in posting your menu, please feel free to do so, then leave me a comment and I will link your menu to my mine.

Menu for the Week of May 16 - 22, 2009

Saturday: quesdills, steak fajitas

Sunday: Breakfast- livermush sandwiches, potato pancakes, cantaloupe

Lunch - eating at Chapel, staying for a class

Supper - grilled chicken, pasta salad, corn

Monday: cube steak w/ gravy, cream potatoes, beans, crowder peas

Tuesday: spaghetti, salad, garlic bread

Wednesday: chicken casserole, baked potatoes, broccoli w/ cheese

Thursday: cube steak/peppers-n-onions, parmesan noodles, beans, slaw, pickles

Friday: hamburger quiche, salad

Desserts: strawberry cupcakes w/ strawberry icing

The hamburger quiche is a new recipe I am trying. Ground beef has been on sale around here for the past weeks. I have been stocking up on it. It has gotten as high as $2.99 a lb. in our local grocery stores. It is a little cheaper at the butchers. So, i thought I had better take advantage of the lower prices. I am cheating on dessert this week. The cupcakes are out of a box. I really like this strawberry cake mix for some reason and I have a craving for it. I have been craving odd things lately.I have been craving strawberry-flavored foods and Bush's baked beans. Don't ask me why. Strange, right? Oh, well, to each her own. ( If I didn't know any better I would say I was pregnant. LOL! That possibility has long since passed us.)  I am still getting plenty of lettuce and now spinach from our garden. I am trying to use it as much as I can, but this week I am taking a break from salads and serving other vegetables instead.

I love to see what other women have planned to eat. It gives me new, freash ideas. So, please, join in!

Have a wonderfully, blessed weekend!

Apr. 18, 2009 - What's For Supper Saturday

What's For Supper Saturday

Hello! Everyone! Wow, I'm finally made it back to the blogging world! The past few have been BUSY! All of our garden plants are now plantied. We have wire put up around our beds to keep our outside chickens from digging in them. Our flower bed around our firepit is slowly filling up. DH helped me plant Day Lilies today. I made a trip to Lowes Hardware this morning to buy annuals to put in window boxes and other flower pots for our front porch, deck, and our back steps. Of course, there has been the usual housework and laundry to do. Somehow despite the busyness, I have managed to keep up with the laundry this week. I haven't figured out how that happened. What computer time I have had has been spent working on the program for our last Keepers At Home reception. I still have the invites to work on. I have been taking lots of pictures to post this week, too. I have a house tour planned and a few other posts in mind. Stay tuned. To everyone who have left me lovely comments during my absence, thank you. You will be hearing from me soon.

Mar. 21, 2009 - What's For Supper Saturday?

What's For Supper Saturday?

Last Saturday, I didn't have time to post my menu for the week. We had 2 places to go; one in the morning and one in the evening. What spare time I had was used do chores and laundry. My menu for last week was totally uninspired and - I am ashamed to say this - but alot of the meals came out of boxes.

The whole point of this meme (for the lack of a better term) is to inspire and give us wives and moms ideas on meals to fix. I don't want this meme  to become a chore for any one. So if I don't feel like or get a chance to post, I am not going to feel guilty. If I am lating in posting that will be okay, too. If any one participating is late posting, I will leave a link to the next week's post. Joyce and Lousie posted their menus for this past week. Be sure to check them out. Congratulations need to go out to Joyce for being the Featured Member on the Homeschoolblogger homepage.

The Menu for the week of March 21 - 27, 2009

Saturday: taco soup w/ cheese quesdillas

Sunday: Breakfast- livermuch, eggs, cinnamon rolls, strawberry smoothies

Lunch/Supper- sandwich wraps, veggies w/ dip

Monday: roast w/ gravy, cream poatoes, green beans, crowder peas

Tuesday: spaghetti, salad, Italian bread

Wednesday: fish stick sandwiches, french fries, veggies w/ dip

Thursday: fried pork chops, pinto beans, cornbread, slaw

Friday: enchiladas w/ lettuce, tomatoe, and sour cream

Desserts: Angel Food Cake

This week's menu was much easier to plan than last week's. Sometimes I get a mentally block as well as a taste-bud block and can't decide what I want. That is what happened last week. I am going to make a homemade Angel Food Cake. I need something that will use up some of the eggs our chickens are laying. We are trying to use as many as possible, giving some away, and selling some; but they keep piling up. Isn't it wonderful to be so blessed. It sures beat paying $3 a week for organic eggs at the grocery store.

Update: Andrea, at Walking in the Truth, has joined us in posting her menu. She did so a few weeks back; but due to  surgery and complications, she hasn't been feeling well enough to post recently. Thanks be to God, she felt well enough to post her today. So be sure to check it out.

If you want to share your menu for the week with us, leave me a comment and I will link your menu back to here. It would be helpful if you left a link to my menu on your post, too. Thanks. Have a wonderful Saturday!

What's For Supper Saturday

What are you having supper this week? Here is my menu for the week. Lousie has also posted her menu for the week.  If you would like to join us in posting your menu for the week, just leave me a comment and I will leave a link to your menu here.

Menu for the week of March 7 -13, 2009

Saturday: BBQ sandwiches, french fries, baked beans, slaw, pickles

Sunday: Breakfast - livermush sandwiches, potato pancakes, applesauce

                 Lunch/Supper - meatloaf, mac-n-cheese, beans

Monday:BBQ chicken, potato salad, steamed veggies

Tuesday: hamburgers, chips w/ salsa

Wednesday: chicken, pasta salad, corn

Thursday: hot dogs w/ chili & slaw, french fries

Friday: cheese quesdillas, taco soup

Desserts: strawberry cake w/ strawberry icing, M & M chocolate chip cookies

Tonight's supper was revamped from last week's menu. I worked yesterday so we had a quick meal out of steak fajita mix I had put up in the freezer. I had planned on having potato salad with our BBQ sandwiches tonight. However, my plans changed when the day turned out to be so beautiful and warm. After doing my morning routine, doing laundry, and fixing lunch; I went outside for about 4 hours to work. So I changed the potato salad into something a little quicker. I will write about my hard work today in another post.

I am still looking for some fresh covered dish ideas for our monthly pot blessings at chapel. If you have any good suggestions, please let me know.

Update: Family of 7 has posted her supper menu for last week. She had some delicious sounding meals planned. Check out her menu here.

Mar. 1, 2009 - What's For Supper Saturday

What's For Supper Saturday

I didn't get my menu post yesterday, because we went to DH's maternal grandmother's  birthday dinner. As of today, she is 91 years old. We felt that deserved a celebration. However, it posed a problem. What do you get a 91 year old woman for her birthday. We ended up giving her Hershey's chocolate bars. Which she liked since they are one of er favorite snacks. Anyway! Here's this week's menu.

Menu for the week of Feb. 28 - Mar. 6, 2009

Saturday: Granny's Birthday Dinner

Sunday: Breakfast - BLT sandwiches, apple & orange slices

Lunch - Pot Blessing @ Chapel

Supper - Chick Filet sandwiches, popcorn, fruit smoothies

Monday: Asian Beef & Broccoli w/ noodles, Italian bread

Tuesday: livermush, eggs, potato pancakes, peaches, biscuits w/ jelly

Wednesday: baked spaghetti, Italian bread, salad

Thursday: turkey, rice-a-roni, vegetable salad

Friday: BBQ sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans

I took a Cherry Yum-Yum to take to our pot blessing. I need some ideas for covered dishes to take to our pot blessing meal. I know someone out there has some suggestions for me. How many of you like breakfast for supper? We do, that is the reason for the meal on Tuesday and the fact my chicks are laying as many as 5 eggs a day. I need to use some of them up.

If you want to join me in posting your menu, just leave me a comment and I will leave a link here to your menu. Check out Louise's menu for this past week and be sure to wih her a Happy Birthday!

What's For Supper Saturday

If you would like to join me in posting your menu, just leave me a comment and I will check out your menu.  I will then put a link to your menu in my post.

I have gotten some interesting and refreshing meal ideas to use instead  of my same old same old.

Menu for the Week of Feb. 7 - 13, 2009

Saturday: pork chops, baked potatoes, salad

Sunday: Breakfast - BLT sandwiches, red grapes

Lunch/Supper - Chicken Broccoli Alfredo, Italian Bread

Monday: meatloaf, cheesy cream potatoes, salad

Tuesday: cube steak, parmesan noodles, beans, slaw, pickles

Wednesday: chili beans, cornbread, salad

Thursday: chicken casserole, cream potatoes, broccoli w/ cheese

Friday: homemade pizza, salad

Dessert: Chocolate cake with vanilla icing

If you have been following my menu, you may have noticed we have Chicken Broccoli Alfredo every few weeks or so. It is one of our favorite meals. We also like cheese. Have you noticed that, too? We are having salad several times this week. Since the produce to make salad is rather expensive I am trying to make the most of it.   I try to make some sort of dessert each week. It is less expensive to make something than to buy it. Plus, I can control the ingredients in the dessert to make it a little healthier.    LOL! Have a wonderful week!

Jan. 31, 2009 - What's For Supper Saturday

What's For Supper Saturday

Since I didn't post my menu for this past week last Saturday, I am going to post it along with this week menu. Also, check out Louise's menu. She has some yummy sounding dishes planned for the week.

Menu for the week of Jan. 24 - 30, 2009

Saturday: Eating @ Village Inn Pizza

Sunday: breakfast - livermush, eggs, strawbery muffins, applesauce

lunch/supper -  turkey sandwiches, popcorn, veggies w/ dip

Monday: roast, beef rice-a-roni, green beans, crowder peas

Tuesday: grilled hamburger patties w/ steamed onions, sour cream  potatoes, veggies with dip

Wednesday: taco salad

Thursday: Getting supper from Wendy's

Friday: steak vermicelli, Italian bread

Last Saturday, we had our card night with our Rook club. We always go out to eat before we play. We ate at our local pizza palor. Thursday night was a crazy night, so we just got a quick bite from Wendy's. Our eating out will be greatly curtailed in the future. This is one of our money saving ideas.

Menu for the week of Jan. 31 - Feb. 6 , 2009

Saturday: BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans

Sunday: breakfast - monkey bread, strawberry smoothies

lunch - Pot Blessing @ Chapel

Monday: roast, broccoli casserole, slaw, pickles

Tuesday: fish filet sandwiches, french fries, slaw

Wednesday: turkey, chicken rice-a-roni, corn

Thursday: taco soup, cheese quesdillas

Friday: MIL's birthday dinner

The monkey bread I am making tomorrow is made out of canned biscuits. It is very fattening and utterly delicious. I need to learn how to make the bread part  from scratch to lessen the processed food impact on the dish. Strawberry smoothies are a new favorite treat around here. On the first Sunday of every month, our Chapel has a covered dish meal called a Pot Blessing. I have a problem with it though. I am running out of ideas for dishes to take. I have taken BBQ wienes, broccoli casserole, Cheesy Chicen Pasta, a lemon pundcake, and homemade bread. Tomorrow, I am taking a baked spaghetti. I would love any suggestions and recipes. For my MIL's birthday dinner, my FIL is going to get pizzas and lasagna from Pizza Hut. I am going to make a salad to take. If any one has an outstanding tartar sauce recipe, I would love to hear from you. I have no idea where to start. DH has to have tartar sauce with fish. I want to find a better alternative than store bought. I am off to do research now, but first a piece of choclate pie is in order.

Have a wonderful week!
