Well, we're in the middle of week three and getting into the groove a little bit. It's taken some time to get the kids' minds set that they're doing school for an hour or two a day. We're doing a six week on, one week off schedule. The first six weeks are for review and getting into a schedule. The girls are reviewing letters, words and numbers. Trey is working on spelling, english, reading, math and two days a week we do history. All we'll have to add on is geography, science and his daily bible work. The reason we haven't started bible is that my computer's cd rom drive won't open, so I have to go and get an external one. His computer in his room, is ancient so its not loading on there.
I am big fans of www.spellingtime.com. Trey has really improved his spelling with the use of it. They have added another website www.bigmathtime.com. I am very excited by it. They are charging this year, its $35.88 for a year's subscription and I'm sure they will do this on the spelling website also. It is a wonderful way to encourage your children to do well and their incentive is that they earn "coins" to play a game at the end of their lesson. I have no doubt that we will be signing up for both. Trey is a little bored with multiplication flashcards, but I know the website will take out some of the boredom from there.
Another great website is www.learningpage.com. My kids love the posters to make. They enjoy the hands on part of learning about ocean creatures. Mom enjoys the fact that they love to learn about it. Right now, they're working on the ocean wall mural. What a blast!!
Hope your summer days are busy with fun and loving family. We still have some activities to finish up. Next week is a swim camp and Trey's finishing up football camp this week. Busy is nice, but it will be good to be back on a regular schedule!
