Whew, its been one heck of a week. We're still finishing up doctor's and dentist appointments so we have many interruptions during the week. We have managed to get quite a chunk of school work done this week, even with the constant interruptions. Next week we have two more appointments and the week after that, I believe we will have two dentist appointments. Trey has to have the last of his three cavities filled and Courtnee had a small filling put in on her front tooth because she had a small hole, unfortunately, it fell out so we have to go back in again. In the midst of all these appointments, I had to go and get my glucose test done (don't ask why its so late, the military makes everything extremely complicated). Anyway, it was slightly elevated (by 4 points) so I have to go and take the three hour test, which means fasting all night and then going in every hour for four hours to get blood drawn and take the sugary stuff. To say the least, it is not fitting into my school plan, but it needs to be done, so we'll do it. Thankfully, I wasn't planning on doing school on Tuesday of next week, so we'll do it then, along with one of the doctor's appointmens.
I met with the school today. Both Hallie and Trey go over for speech services. This will probably be Trey's last year, but Hallie has a severe speech problem, so she'll be going for a while. The nice thing about living overseas on a military base, is that we are literally across the street from the school and the school allows us to go to school for their "specials". These consist of art, music, gym, japanese language, and japanese culture. Its the same time everyday and they do a different special each day. Hallie also has the option of taking a Spanish immersion class which they just started this year for kindergarten and first grade. I wish Trey could participate, but its not available yet. Trey will also be going over everyday for reading help. This class is 90 minutes long a day and will hopefully really ping on his problem areas. We work for about 60 minutes a day on reading, so I'm really hoping that by the end of the year, he's up to grade level in reading. I wasn't sure whether or not to do it, but I hear wonderful things about it.
The bad part of all these things, is that it means we are constantly moving all day long and since speech is only once a week for Trey and twice for Hallie, our schedule changes daily. I just sat down and typed up the schedule and its a little confusing, but I'm sure we'll get the hang of it. It will be really nice for Trey to go over because he gets a little tired of hanging out with all of us girls, especially since dad's gone, and it will give me the opportunity to work with the other child for 45 minutes without constant interruptions. If I see this isn't working, or its too hard to transition back to school work when they return home, we'll just stop them.
I hope and pray that everyone else's week is going well and the start of school goes well!! |
