Holiday Traditions-part 2

Hello!!  Sorry for the delay in posting my own reply to my own challenge!!

Kailyn's been a little out of sorts in the evening hours, so my eyes are currently being kept open by toothpicks--he he!

My husband has fond memories growing up of these two candies being made and eaten in his house!!  We  have made them every year we've been together.

Peanut Butter Balls

1 6oz pkg butterscotch chips

2 cups peanut butter

1 6oz pkg chocolate chips

2 cups rice krispies

1 box powdered sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 bar parafine

Melt peanut butter and butter in saucepan.  In large bowl, combine powdered sugar and rice krispies.  Pour peanut butter mixture into sugar mixture.  Mix with hands and form into balls.  Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips with parafine.  Drop balls into melted chip mixture and coat.  Drop onto wax paper and chill or freeze.

Peanut Clusters

6 oz pkg chocolate chips

1 pkg almond bark

raw salted peanuts

Melt the chips and almond bark together on stove.  Stir in peanuts.  Drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper.

On Christmas Eve we generally have lots of snacks items on hand.  Little sausages, steamed shrimp, etc.  We attend church, usually the children's service and sometimes the later service.  The midnight service is a little too late yet for the little ones.  We generally just enjoy being together as a family.  This year, my in-laws are traveling to see us and we're very excited.  Its the first time that they will be joining us for Christmas.

On Christmas day, we get up- open presents and have a large brunch.  Then we spend the rest of the day putting stuff together.  Generally, we have friends come over for dinner.  We usually have a houseful-the more the merrier.  We enjoy sharing the day with our friends.

What special recipes or traditions can you share?
