Well, its that time of year, when we reorganize our plans for the rest of the year. I've found that lately, I've totally taken the full out of schooling. I'm so concentrated on finishing the workbooks, that we haven't been reading together as a family nor doing fun projects or experiments. Soooo, I've revamping my plans for the rest of the year. Obviously, its difficult to get everything done in a day, especially if the kids are doing fun projects. So for the rest of the year, we're doing science two days and history two days. We're also going to alternate weeks on fun projects. For example, we just finished our book learning on the westward expansion, so this week I'm going to concentrate on building a wagon (we got an awesome kit from www.bitsandpieces.com) and doing other activities related to the expansion. In science, we'll conentrate on finishing up our book learning on animals, and then next week dive into experiments regarding levers and pulleys, meanwhile, starting the book learning on our next history lesson. I hope I've spelled it out clearly.

Trey and I are meeting with his violin teacher this coming week to get him measured for a violin. He has expressed interest several times, but I was reluctant to start him on violin. Visions of him making awful noises were the reason why I hesitated. On Christmas eve, a young girl visiting from the U.S. played her violin and he was enchanted. He came over once while she was playing and twice during service to find out if he could take lessons. Eventually he wants to learn guitar and this will be a step in the right direction. So, we're diving into violin. Should be interesting!! The girls have been working on their piano. Courtnee isn't doing too badly for only being four. Hallie could practice more and then she'd be wonderful. That of course, is my fault for not getting her to practice. I just made a chart this week so we're getting back on track.

Kailyn is doing wonderfully and growing like a week. She's sleeping right now and there are seven kids in this small house making all kinds of noise. They're having a blast though so I can't complain.

On a personal note, I'm doing well with my reading. I try to read an hour a day and I've been going scrapbooking on a several Saturdays this month. I've completed 33 pages, not too shabby. I figure if I do that a few days a month, I should be caught up with current pictures, and hopefully the last two years by the end of the year. I can hope can't I?? |
