These pictures are actually from last week, and I've finally gotten a moment to post them. We're working on God's Design Series for plants and we're really enjoying it. Trey had to design a plant and animal cell:

He worked very hard on these:

We had a great time in History. We're finishing up our Westward Expansion. This month we'll be focusing on the Pony Express and Cowboys before starting on the Civil War next month. Here's some photos of us making johnny cakes or journey cakes and baking soda biscuits.

Mixing up the baking soda biscuits.

Getting ready to bake them.

Trying them out with a little jelly. The kids really liked these biscuits and have requested them for breakfast several times since then.

The johnny cakes were another matter entirely. They were absolutely awful. The four of us couldn't even eat half of one. They have too much cornmeal in my opinion and were very gritty. No amount of syrup, powdered sugar, or butter would make them better. I generally love corn bread, but these were too much!
