I didn't realize that I hadn't blogged so long until I looked at my last blog date. My apologies to anyone who may check my blog out for a new post, only to be disappointed. I just know, there are swarms of you out there!
I have an interesting story to tell you. First, let me start out by saying that our house that we live in is very nice, however, it is the size of a walk in closet. It's sometimes frustrating to have six people and one very large dog living in this space, especially when I'm trying to avoid stepping on legos, falling down the stairs because of the dolls laying there, or tripping over the dog who decides to lay in the middle of the kitchen while I'm cooking dinner. For those of you that don't know, our dog, Shadow, is about 120 pounds. He's a big dog, however, he's a little overweight right now.
So, back to the story. We had lived here about six months, when our friend came over with her children. Her little girl went to run out the patio door to get her shoes, but ran right into the screen instead. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt, but the screen has been hanging loose on the sides and bottom since then.
Fast forward to now. The strange thing about our house is that we have two fences in our back yard. The first fence is around the patio and the second fence is around our postage stamp size yard. Last week, during swimming lessons we left for about an hour, nothing unusual. When we leave, we generally leave the patio door and screen open for the dog to go out and close both fences. This way, if some children are walking by the second gate and open it, the dog can't get out.
We arrived back home and the dog greeted us as usual-by picking up the nearest thing he could find and bringing it to us. I stepped in the house and was greeted also by a bird. Apparently, this little brown wren decided our house would be cool to hang out in. It flew around a few times and finally we got it out the door. Meanwhile, Shadow is laying on the floor sleeping. Great hunting dog he is-totally missed the bird.
So, I step into the kitchen to make lunch and the bird flies by me. Okay. So, I chase the bird out of the house again. Please note here, that the dog is still sleeping!
This time I shut the screen door, which is really effective with the screen hanging from the top. I think you see what's coming up next.
I finish making lunch and come into the dining room and the bird is sitting on the table. It starts flying around again, I'm busy looking for the video camera taping me for America's Funniest Videos, and the dog is still sleeping.
This time I shut the glass door! Not enough room here for six people, a dog,and a bird! |
