Y'know I love my hubby.  I really do.  He's  a wonderful husband and father.  However, sometimes, I want to strangle him.

He's gone, been gone since May.  He's been to Hawaii twice-got about nine days off in port, golfed four of them-went to Guam and had some more time off, and now he's in San Diego.  He arrived last week and was able to catch a very cheap flight home to see his parents for five days.

His comment to me was, "Boy, I really needed this break."

Scuse me????  A break?  I consider a break getting to actually pee, wipe, pull up my pants without an interruption.  A break is that one or two children are in an activity and I only have to run around the grocery store at break neck speed, gathering groceries for a week, with only two children instead of four putting the cereal with the highest sugar content in the cart.  A break is that for one, only one, millisecond, I have the laundry caught up-until the girls change clothes again because a drop of water fell on them.  A break is when I serve chicken nuggets or pizza for dinner and I don't have to cut up any food!

Don't get me wrong, he deserves some rest.  He works his tail off.  What most of civilians don't realize is that an eight hour work day is none existant in the military.  My hubby works 12-15 hours a day, and when he's on the ship there aren't any days off.  Even when he's home, he's working 12 hours a day.

but..... I'd really like a break.  Some place warm and tropical, with someone to watch the kiddos so I can take a nap.  Someone to give me a little mixed drink with a little umbrella in it to sip by the pool.  A dinner where I don't have to cut up food for someone.

I did take July off from extra activities for the kids.  I'm more relaxed and my house is a little more organized, which helps with my train of thought and state of mind!!

Blessings to all!!  And please remember not only to pray for  those deployed, but also for the families that are left behind.  The spouse left back, is doing double duty also and the kids get tired of the parent always being gone.  Its not an easy life and prayers always lift us up!!  Thank you!!

I am sorry, I know that it must be very hard for you. I have always heard that behind every stonge man there is an even stronger woman. My spouse works 12 hr days also and though he is not in the millitary any longer he is still that disiplined sort who likes to lead, direct and move move move! There are times when I would like to strengle my spouse too. LOL He doesn't do child care, or house work or any kind of cooking. So even when he is home and it seems like other men do so much more with or for their wives I still do everything the same. I would like to go with you to that beach and sip those umbrella drinks!! We would have two fab rooms each with a hot tub and personal massage team! The kids would be close so we could visit them but they would have ultra safe british Nannies to keep them playing and behaving...and the nannies could cut up the food while we went to some fancy resturant! That is a good dream!

I'm laughing out loud in pain and sympathy. Yours are two different worlds, and it is wonderful that you can recognize how hard he works and the fact that he may have needed the break, even though you need one just as much. I'm hoping that you get one, and that you find a bathroom door lock that works better than the one I have!

You go girl! You've got that right about an uninterrupted moment in the bathroom would be wonderful. The shower is like the phone, as soon as it starts they start hollering, "MOM". You are in our prayers. Twisted sister in Christ with a deployed hubby.
