I heard it again today......

I have to admit that I am extremely sarcastic.  So, much so, I have to tone it down alot.  Having children has helped alot with my struggle, but there are still times......

You homeschool?  ALL of your children? (side note here, I have four; which apparently is pretty close to a dozen children)

Yes, I do homeschool.  Its a wonderful experience and opportunity.  The kids and I can also take time off when daddy's home, which isn't often.

Wow, you must have alot of patience.

Yes. (seething through gritted teeth)

I couldn't stand to be with my kids all day long.

Ya'know, I should see that one coming.  I hear it all the time.  It still floors me that a person could want and love a child but not stand to be around them.  I open my mouth and pray that nothing bad comes out.

Usually I stand, look at them and clench my teeth and PRAY.  Its the only way I can keep the evil comments from popping out.

I so don't get it either. Children are no longer seen as blessings in America. To many folks, kids are seen as burdens or at least the little "things" we have to have to keep the planet going. Makes me ill sometimes. I get to add in to my coversations that three of my are special needs and yes I am still homeschooling the high schooler. That usually just leaves them with "wow" and that look in their eyes (boy, she is crazy).
Blessings,
Dawn

I think that the next time that I hear that comment I will ask the person, "Then why did you have them?"

Wow, I can't believe people say that! That's really horrible!! Okay, queen of sarcasm, I KNOW you can come up with the perfect retort to that. Let me know when you've got it!

I love those comments too (exhibiting my own sarcasm!). I actually have told people that I probably have no more patience than they do, that we have just made different choices in life. That usually shuts them up.

I've noticed you on Arby's quite a bit....and thanks for your comment recently on my blog!! Sorry it took so long to get my butt over here!!

I completely agree with you. It completely floors me when people say they can't stand to be with their kids all day. Most of my friends (even my Christian ones) are dying to get rid of their kids at the end of summer. I'll never understand it!

Thanks for stopping by...I'll be back. I read through your posts and am praying for your family! Thanks for the sacrifices your family makes for our country!! I appreciate it!

I can so relate!
I'm looking forward to having a new blog world neighbor!
Will you guys be moving into housing, or out in town? Have you been here before?
We got here Oct 1, 4 years ago and we've never looked back, we love it so much we plan to make it our permanent home. Its a wonderfully conservative homeschool friendly town!
Speaking of which email me at angelnavywife at msn dot com if you'd like me to forward you to the Homeschoolers Under God (Whidbey) email list!

I am the queen of sarcasm. I only homeschooled for a little over two months. (Remember that?) I still get those comments though. We must be running into the same ignorant people around here. Small base!! I just got it about a week ago. Being pregnant with #5 is supposedly some kind of disease or crazy psycho decision on my part. Why would I want so many children? When I tell them that I hope to have a #6 after this one, they look at me as if I'm asking them for child support or as if I told them it's theirs!! Ha... I'm so truly blessed. I can see it, why can't they???
