It's Treehouse Time!

Used to be...when it was quiet in our house, it meant somebody was into something   But tonight, it was quiet and near bedtime so I went in search of some kids to see what was going on. Here's what I found holed up in the bottom bunk of Jon's room.

Apparently they are hooked on the Magic Treehouse book I checked out from the library for them and were taking turns reading chapters.  Luke (age 8) would read one chapter and then Jonathan (age 7) would read another.  Hard to believe that not long ago Zech and Ben were this age and also loved reading this series...seems like yesterday.   After letting them read 20 minutes past their bedtime, I sent Luke to bed upstairs and tucked Jon and Laura in bed.  About 20 minutes later I went upstairs to say goodnight to Zech, Ben and Luke and expected to find all of them asleep (it was a big, long, homeschool co-op day, library day, errands day, etc.) but instead found them all lying in their beds reading the new library books, lol.  Ah...they are so like their momma!  No matter how tired I am or how late it is, I always curl up in bed with a good book and read a bit before falling asleep

Well how about I send my boy over to your house each night and let him read with yours so he might learn to love to read? I think that is a neato idea, chuckle! Glad you have readers on your hand! They are fun huh? I would love it but my son wants me to read to him ALL the time so...for now I do most of the time because I want him to learn to love the stories so much so that soon he will take the book off on his own and read it...hasn't happened yet but I am still hopeful!

I know. I have had reluctant readers and I just have them find books, magazines, etc. on whatever they're interested in and that seems to help. I think all my kids started out with the comics in the newspaper before progressing on. Graphic novels are still a favorite among our boys even though they're reading other materials these days.

But sure, I wouldn't mind doing some reading tutoring for your kiddo either!
