Tried and True! Our Homeschooling and Life's Journey

Our new placement

Hi Everyone!

Some of you know we accepted a new placement last night! It was definately a God thing. The placement coordinator called an asked me to take a sibling group of 3-which contained boys. I was out shopping for Nick (he's grown 2 sizes and his feet have grown 3!) when she called. I was so annoyed that she asked me to take three and that there were boys! I have turned down every call she's made to me like this!! So I wasn't going to call her back-yes, I know rude of me but I was truly annoyed . So I finished my shopping and decided I was being pissy and rude and it wasn't the right thing to do to ignore her phone call! LOL I called her back and told her NO!! and we discussed the fact that I already have 3 boys and that 6 kids was too much for me since we had tried that already. Well, she didn't realize we already have 3 kids and I think it all made sense to her at that point! LOL As we are having this conversation she says "will you take one little girl?" I thought she wanted me to take the girl in the above mentioned sibling group! She says I have a mom in the office right now who is falling apart and doing a voluntary release. When can you be here-I happend to be in Vancouver! So of course, I said yes-and off we went.

She is soooooo cute!!!!!!! Eric called to find out more about her and I said "you better guard your heart" Uh OH was all he said! LOL She is 4yo teeny tiny-she's only in a 3T, hispanic descent with the biggest brown eyes ever! We went and bought her a few articles of clothing since we are going to a wedding today and she didn't have anything appropriate to wear-BUMMER!! Now if I can just figure out how to do her hair...

Nick was with me when I picked her up so he seems to have a bond with her. Levi still doesn't want a little sister, and Luke thinks she's adorable! It broke my heart that she didn't shed a tear when we left-just normal to her! I was also sad for the mom, and proud of her that she knew she couldn't handle it anymore-she walked in to the office to see the worker  Mom wanted to meet me, and gave me some of Lita's clothes. The workers made it all happen really quick-mom has a history of mental issues and can be unstable at times-but it all went really well and I am glad I got to meet her. It helps me pray for her when I have a picture in my mind. There is a relative who might be willing to take lita, but they can't right now-I don't know why. Let's see... I guess that is all for now!

Luke Update-there isn't one! no change in his facial weakness

School is in full swing! And we are loving it! Well, I am still waiting for Luke's materials to come from the virtual school. He's doing math and language arts through them. I don't think I am going to like being on someone else's schedule, but I have to give it a try until the first of the year, and then re-evaluate that just like with the other stuff we use. I guess part of my hesitant feelings are because all of the sudden everything is clicking for Luke and things in math he was struggling with he's getting now, and same with language arts and writing. I am not sure switching the curriculum is the best idea! I found these hillarious math books called Life Of Fred! he loves it. He actually got up and was reading it and working on the problems while he was eating breakfast! (singing my opera song here! if you don't know what I am talking about-be THANKFUL-very thankful) LOL

We have had a very boring summer with all the moving and medical/dental issues going on! So I don't have any new pictures to post -but I do have my very own scrapbooking room all set up now! YAY I can't wait to get to work in there!

Be Blessed!

Have a great day! Natalie and co.

Sep. 1, 2008 - your blog

Oh Natalie, today is the first I've heard of this blog of yours and I am wasting the whole morning reading it. You are such a good writer and are vividly living a life directed by God. This is so cool.

Just had a thought. If you want to get a group of homeschoolers together, I would be happy to give a lecture on how to create believable science-fiction aliens and give an assignment at the end for the home teachers to follow up on.

About Me

We are foster parents, with three biological boys and hopefully we will be adopting a little girl in the near future- It's never a dull moment around here! I am starting my 3rd year of homeschooling and love it, I think the kids do too?! We are having a lot of fun and learned a lot of new things last year (mom included). We are in the ancient times for history, parked on the Greeks and Romans currently, Apologia Astronomy for science, and we are in the great lakes region for geography using a fun book called Paddle to the Sea-maybe we will actually finish it one of these years! LOL We are giving Shurley English a whirl this year, and upping our copywork, and learning cursive!
