Tried and True! Our Homeschooling and Life's Journey

Sep. 24, 2008

A new way...

I thought this would be a fun way to add some variety to my blog. This will give you a better glimpse into our daily schedule and what we are up to with "school".

Eric has been gone for three days and I am sooooooo ready for him to be home! I have to admit, he does more around here than he gets credit for. Even if it is just entertaining the kids and giving me some space, or taming a brewing argument between the kids!

Assignment: How do you keep energized so you can get it all done? bouncy music? treat it like a workout?

I dont' get it all done! I hate cleaning house, and I especially hate laundry and cooking-but I do it. It's far from perfect and there are some things I have decided not to worry about. I do have a menu laid out, but I don't follow it. I use it more as a guide for what is in the pantry and freezer. So I might have a roast on Saturday instead of Monday, and Lasagne on Tuesday instead of Thursday. You get the picture. I have every meal planned like this right down to snacks. It works really well for us.

Do you use a schedule?, a housekeeping binder system? luck of the draw system?.

I do have a schedule that I rarely keep. Pretty much if we are out of socks and unders, they get priority and washed first. If it's jeans and sweatshirts they get washed. I was keeping up really well, but since we got back from vacation, everything has quickly gone under! I need a vacation from my vacation! LOL

I use a chore chart for the boys, but I haven't been using it lately either. Well, as you can see, I am feeling overwhelmed with schedule, school and home. Our schedule is new and I am not good at changing things. School has been a struggle, but is getting better-at least with the littles-Luke is making me nuts! Oh nothing new there LOL

About Me

We are foster parents, with three biological boys and hopefully we will be adopting a little girl in the near future- It's never a dull moment around here! I am starting my 3rd year of homeschooling and love it, I think the kids do too?! We are having a lot of fun and learned a lot of new things last year (mom included). We are in the ancient times for history, parked on the Greeks and Romans currently, Apologia Astronomy for science, and we are in the great lakes region for geography using a fun book called Paddle to the Sea-maybe we will actually finish it one of these years! LOL We are giving Shurley English a whirl this year, and upping our copywork, and learning cursive!
