Preparing for the Big Move!

9 days until we are on the plane back to our place overseas.  We shipped seven boxes already and still have much left to pack.  Our time here has been short, but busy.  But not really busy with accomplishing school.  It seems that we are so behind now, which means that we will be spending another summer doing school!  Much has been accomplished here.

My mom broke her arm, so I was able to step in and do much of the house cleaning and cooking.  Dh helped my dad to re-build his deck.  This is a project that has been need for at least 4 years.  So, it is a real blessing to have it done.  Dh did a great job and it looks fantastic.  My dad is really pleased.

Our college-age boys will be finishing their semester up soon.  Both have decided to transfer to a college closer to home.  I have mixed feelings, but they are old enough to make their own decisions.

Our daughter (15) and youngest son (9) are ready to return.  I'm having lots of issues....as I still feel that my parents need us here, as do our college boys.  It is only the Lord's promises to be faithful that is giving me the courage to go again.  Our work there is not done and dh is excited about the new opportunities and getting back to the many unfinished tasks there.

Prayers would be greatfully appreciated.  I will try to be more diligent in keeping up this blog.

Well, we all survived AJ's surgery on his sinuses.  He is home and recuperating.  I think it will be another week before he is back up to snuff.  And he really needs to be studying for his SAT, which is coming up quickly!

His surgery meant that last week's school week was short.  It seems like it took 5 full weeks to get in 3 weeks of school with all that has been going on. I've reworked my schedule to accomodate ALL the August interruptions.

Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.  Proverbs 19:21

Week 4 began today and it almost felt like the first day of school.  We are enjoying Sonlight's Core 3 and Core 7.  Hubby has been doing the Core 3 Read-Aloud...Walk the World's Rim.  And now it is on to the Secret of the Andes.  John so enjoys spending that time with Dad.  John also spent time outside with all his friends.  He knows all the children in our apartment building, and he bounces back and forth from Polish to English with no problems.  He speaks English to his Korean friends and then Polish to the Poles and serves as interpretor for all of them.

Bex is really enjoying Core 7 and the Geography we are doing.  It is so hard to believe that she is starting high school this year.  And she is growing so much and becoming a "real" young lady and not such a tomboy.  I knew it would happen eventually.  But it is sort of sad to see her growing up....I still remember the little girl with the blue jean shorts and T-shirts standing on the porch singing, "Oh, What a Jesus."  Which was her own version of  a hymn.  Her favorite hymn was "Standing On the Promises."  But today, she and I snuck away together to see a movie.  She wanted to see "Step Up" and the music from that was a far cry from hymns.  But the story was good and we enjoyed the time together and ended up doing a little shopping.

Welcome to my blog.....

Welcome to my blog, I just wish that I knew what I was doing.  But I enjoy learning new things, so hopefully I'll get the hang of all this soon.

Today, I spent part of the day preparing for Week 3 of our homeschool.  We have named our school:
Lantern Academy of Learning....and our motto is
Learning about the world by the Light of God's Word
and our verse is Psalm 119:105 NIV
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

My daughter is in 9th grade and  we are doing a modified Sonlight Core 7.  I've added a geography book to boost this to a high school level.  So far, she is enjoying it.  Last year, I didn't use Sonlight for her and she begged to come back to Sonlight.

My youngest son is in grade 3 this year and we are doing Sonlight Core 3, American History.  This intro to American History are my favorite Cores in Sonlight and I'm really looking forward to this year.  I've done Core 3+4 once with my second son, and then Core 3 and Core 4 with my daughter.

My oldest is in America and is currently working.  He lives in Atlanta, GA near my parents.

My second son, is preparing to go back to the states in a few months.  He will be having surgery on the 31st, so prayers for him would be appreciated.  He is finishing up a math and science course for high school.  This is the second surgery that he has had in his high school career.  This time, he is having sinus surgery and some repair to his eardrum.
