This is from Tracy O'Brian regarding something at the Union county library and I would like to know the interest level! "I heard back from the librarian. She will do a homeschool bookclub and she will present the monthly important person in history class for us. She said we just have to let her know the day we are interested in and she will reserve the room for us, since there is a DVD and activity. For bookclub we have to have a set day of the week to meet as well. She will do 2 books -one for young elementary and one for middleschoolers. How many do you think will be interested?" Please email me at svhomeschoolers@aol.com and let me know! |

OK now its your turn! Start thinking about setting up some trips for Nov-& beyond! I will still set some up but I wanted to encourage you all to bring out your best! Some ideas of trips my family has done in the past I would do again- Brodarts in Williamsport; Pottery barn in Penns Creek; Furmans cannery in Northumberland; Whitaker center; Lancaster Trips I wondered about Chef boyardee; Holsom bread (we had one schedule yrs ago but it was canceled due to weather); In Lancaster there are 2 cool things (among all the others!) Here are 2 neat ones: http://www.handsonhouse.org/; http://www.landisvalleymuseum.org/ Now- years ago we went to the Landis valley museum for FREE sometime in March maybe? They don't have that calender up yet but if they do have a free day we can plan to go and right next door is the hands on house which is great for the younger crowd- we can schedule a group for 1-1/2 hours of time for $4 per person..by the way the museum is more like a village you walk from place to place building to building & see how things were done long ago like spinning wool, etc So that will wait till 2010.. Email me things you want to do- or trips you have done that have been successful in the past and I will post them on here! |

I, Melissa, am in co-charge of a new program at our church devoted to giving ladies of the community a nice night out each month. We meet at Grace Covenant Community Church (the old blough wagner building), Cafe' lane in Middleburg behind the Middleburg hotel. The evening starts at 6:30 and is held EVERY SECOND SATURDAY NIGHT OF THE MONTH THROUGH THE YEAR! So now that you know that pre-mark your calendars! October was kicked of with comedy night! It was a blast! November was swap night- we had so much fun playing games to earn money them auctioning off the items people brought. If you missed it- too bad for you cause it was awesome! December is Christmas Craft night- bring a craft to share with enough for 5-10 people to do in supplies- ONLY if you want to & have a nice one to share! If you do- contact me so I can prepare. BUT there is no need to bring a craft- just come & do some! You will not want to miss how Sherry decorates the rooms up- she is simply amazing! Please take time for YOU this holiday season to have fun! |

Please check out your local and surrounding libraries for great event information! http://www.unioncountylibsys.org/ for example in September the Herr Mem. Library is having a dog show& in Oct. an anniversary day with "extreme pumpkin carving" for example! http://www.snydercountylibraries.org Also you can check out audio books you can download to your ipod, pc, mp3, etc and you never return them! The best though is tumble books that has books come to life online for the kids! My 3 year old likes The Duck in the Muck!
