I was talking to a lady at church today. In the midst of our conversation, she said something like this, " Men may be the head of the home, but women are the neck." I think she meant that to say that women are really in control, but it made me think a different way.
I am currently stuck (forever it seems) in my 5th reading of Created to Be His Helpmeet by Debi Pearl. There is a section in the book that talks about being careful what we say to our husbands as we can be very influential of what they think of others. That's where the comment made by this lady came in. It made me think of how we can affect our husband's thoughts about others (and situations, etc.). The LORD does not intend for us to have control, but we do carry a lot of influence. What kind of influence are we exerting on our husbands, children, friends? Power comes and goes but influence can last a lifetime. How do we make others look in their eyes? What kind of view do we give them about a situation?
I know, for one, that I have a lot of work to do on this one. |
