I wrote this poem about a year ago as I reflected on my spiritual journey. It might sound depressing at first, but I find such joy in knowing these things in the verses are no longer true of me because of Christ's surpassing love and grace. My relationship with Him has completely altered my life. Thank God!
I’m sure some of you can relate to this; I’m sure countless people have felt this way. So, this poem is dedicated to you all.
A torn petal,
A fallen leaf,
A bruised apple;
I was such as these.
A withered field,
A colorless sky,
A shattered cup;
I fell into the same class.
A wordless song,
A burned-out light,
A pointless story;
I was akin to them all.
A hardened heart,
A passionless soul,
A hopeless life;
I was their dwelling place.
Why should I be offered a fresh start?
How could my tattered being
be pieced back together?
I’ll never completely understand.
All I know is that He made it happen. |
