Taking the Challenge

Light, the wondrous gift that enables us to see.  It enables us to see our Savior's amazing, beautiful, complex creation.  The Light, our Savior, enabled us to see Truth.  Light and Truth...without them there would be no natural or eternal life.

We are taught in Scripture to hold our light up, to not hide it under a bushel.  Why?  So others might see, so others might gain Life.

Light dispels darkness and reveals those things which want to remain hidden under dark's cover.

Spiritual and physical lights shine in different ways: physical light can be obtained by the Sun, by fire, by electricity through candles, torches, flashlights, light fixtures, etc.  God shines His Light through varied earthen vessels.  Some are candles in the home that grace the family table with warmth and beauty.   Others are flashlights guiding lost sheep to the Shepherd.  There are those who are beacons on the seas of life.  Then there are the spotlights.  Those that God uses to bring focused illumination on those things that wish to remain hidden in the darkness.  Voice of the Martyrs ministry is a spotlight.  They continually shine light and truth into the hidden corners of darkness throughout the world.

Just as a light shining on a vessel in peril brings responsibility to those on the lookout, so shining light on those who bring persecution to our brothers and sisters in Christ brings responsibility to us.  We may never have the ability to reach out a physical hand, but there are plenty of things we can do: give donations to those who do reach out  with physical hands; write letters to those in authority who can help make a difference; most importantly, and what each one of us is able to do...we can P R A Y!

Let the Lord's light shine in your heart today and illuminate to you how you can help those who are under persecution.  And, take a minute to pray, not only for those persecuted, but for their enemies, and for those, like Voice of the Martyrs, who keep focused light on the things happening under darkness's cloak.
