May. 17, 2006 - ~* Weddings and Modesty *~
A while back I wrote a post regarding the newer wedding dress styles, now weddings and modesty are creating a buzz in the blog-o-sphere. Check out some of the talk:
This last link is about modesty for Christian women in general and it's one of the best pieces I've read on the subject:

Thanks for entering my comment contest!
I had time to read only the last link, so I will have to come back later but I wanted to say that I don't totally agree with this author. Either she was avoiding the "Christian" women who purposely dress to please men, she believes that if they do purposely dress this way they aren't Christians at all, or she is actually clueless that women dress this way to please men. The last was not really what I imagine to be true, but I wonder why she chose not to address it.
Anyway, I know plenty of women who attend church regularly who do dress to catch a man's eye. They will deny it to their dying day in public but with their best friends they might. You don't dress that way and not hope a boy/man will look at you. They don't get dressed up just for their own pleasure.
I have to go, but I'll be back to read your other links! Abiding in the Vine!

I am soooo with you on the writing of that book!
Have you read the book by Dana Gresh? I can't remember the title at the moment. It was supposed to be about modesty but it was far from true modesty. It was a big disappointment to me. I felt it was a compromise between the truth and worldly thinking.
Just so any readers won't think I must wear black floor length dresses or something, I do wear dresses all the time, but my daughters do not. I like to wear pretty things, but they cover me they don't cling to me or show off my body.
Here's an oxymoron if I ever saw one. Women today grumble all the time about wanting to be appreciated for their minds and not their bodies, but they insist on going around half naked. Somehow they just can't see the connection.
Anything I find I'll let ya know. Abiding in the Vine!

Hi there,
I'm just visiting all the Blubber Blogger's Blogs and reminding them about the online chat tonight with Jeannie Fulbright. If you are interested, just make sure you have AOL Instant Messenger (you can download a free version on the AOL site) and email me you screen name so I can invite you to the chatroom (my email is mkin@udata.com). Be sure to put CHAT in the subject line so I don't miss you!
If you have any questions for Jeannie, if you could send them to me ahead of time, it would help her be able to answer better, but you can ask questions tonight, too. I hope that you can make it :-) In case you missed it, Jeannie's guest lecture is on our Blubber Blogger Blog.
Hugs,
Kathy
