They can't keep drugs or weapons out of prisons, but - by Gosh - they are going to keep those *Bibles* out! What can I say? The world stopped making sense for me a long, long time ago. Steph

P.S.-Aren't prisons required to offer holy books like the Koran to prisoners who need or want them? Doesn't the Judea-Christian Bible qualify, too? Very strange.

Jun. 6, 2006 - Prison Fellowship

I absolutely cannot believe that they are kicking out Prison Fellowship Ministries. From wife of an inmate in SC, I would be really upset if they did that here. This ministry is responsible for the Angel Tree, which allows the inmates to have a Christmas gift sent home to their children so their is a gift under the tree from them at this special time of the year. From an outside perspective this is an awesome opportunity to reach the unsaved outside of the prison walls as well as inside.
I know that when we were visiting my husband once, we heard an announcement that the Wicca meeting would be start. What in the world! Let's go ahead and teach them more evil! But they fear that the Prison Fellowship is an invasion of the their religious rights. Insane, I tell ya!
My husband enjoys the PF very much. He is in fact thinking of getting involved in some type of ministry to help troubled teens when he gets out. (That amazes me! Anyways...) I know that we would miss the PF here, and I am sure that it is only a matter of time before they will be kicked out of most. This is a place that the devil resides as well and he can't have all this Bible stuff going on in there now can he? I feel that this is really something that needs lots of prayer, God can overcome it if we pray like crazy. So pray for Iowa's prisons.
In His Light!

Jun. 6, 2006 - This has been a huge legal battle.....

Posted by FaithfulGrace

at the root of this legal battle is the use of government money in a prison to run a christian ministry. Also at root is hours of testimony by the plantiff's that they were coerced into joining this group.

When the case first went before the appealate court there was a huge article in the Des Moines Register in February. Saturday there was an article in the Des Moines Register also, here is the link for it:http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?p_action=doc&p_docid=11215E4466107608&p_docnum=1&p_theme=gannett&s_site=desmoinesregister&p_product=DMRB

I believe that Satan knows that this program was working to transform lives. This court battle is just his way of attempting to derail it. While Prison Fellowship Ministries appeals the courts decision, they have to pay no money back and may maintain the program.

I love your celebrating of your blogs 1yr anniversary. Very cool! It has been to long since I have visited your blog. How is your new home?
Wishing you a blessed week,
Linda
