Feb. 11, 2006 - ~* Saturday Share-A-Blog, Jan. 11, 2006 *~
Thanks to ronandjess's blog Proverbs 31 I learned of a website that will show you whether or not you have a registered sex offender in your neighborhood. I was horrified at how many were within our present area and thankful to see the number greatly reduced where we're moving too. You can check out your neighborhood at familywatchdog.us. After entering your address, where there are markers, you can click on the markers and see the offenders picture and the crime he was convicted of. I don't like this kind of stuff, but it's real in today's society and I do believe in "forewarned is forearmed".
I certainly didn't plan on this week's SSAB being so "heavy"...but these subjects are important to all of us. This next read is by a blogger I found thanks to Patricia W Hunter, and while the subject matter is a bit heavy, I'm including it because of the lesson that it holds: a small candle can give bright light in a dark room. Sometimes we feel overwhelmed by all the wrongs in this world. We wonder where to begin to affect change. And that's what I appreciate about this blogger's post, her Grandma affected change right where she was. Any one of us can do the same. Maybe you won't exactly enjoy the post on Ingrid Schlueter's blog Front Porch Chats (although it really is a beautifully written piece) but I think you'll leave it feeling inspired to burn brightly right where you are.
Okay...I have to put in something light and fluffy here. You think Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year? Well, not according to mjpuzzlemom. Nope, according to her...THIS is.
I have to throw in a cutie too. Dontcha just love kids perspectives? The older I get the more I enjoy listening to kids views on just about everything. Anyhow...here's a fun read on a couple of kid's idea of sharing. Visit A Homeschooling Mother of 4's Blog and peek into her honey's latest homecoming and his "gifts".
Last night I posted a request that you would join those in the HSB community who are praying for Candace (thanks to Janne at Janne's Jabberwocky bringing it to our attention). Here is the site that Candace's family has established to keep everyone updated on her condition.
Please continue to keep her and her family in your prayers.
Well, I admit this was a different SSAB, but I hope you've been informed & inspired, enjoyed a smile or two, and ultimately been blessed.
Have a blessed week,
Sheryl

Feb. 12, 2006 - Thanks so much for thinking of me.

I have really backed off on computer time. It was just eating up too much of my time with the kids and chores. I miss going around and visiting everyone, but the Lord was really convicting me on my priorities. I don't want to close my blog, because I did enjoy it...I just have to be careful.
My littlest is ill, and so I'm home from church today. Thanks for the pick-me-up. It's so nice to be remembered.

We were shocked to see the various sex offenders located in our area. And we have 2 schools within walking distance. It's very disturbing.
