You probably already know that my favorite homeschool magazine is The Old Schoolhouse. What you may not know is that my favorite "fun stuff resources" magazine is Family Fun .
I've received this subscription for years and have gotten some really great ideas from crafts and recipes to birthday themes and family vacations. This is a bittersweet review for me, as I'm now letting my subscription lapse. Now that our "baby" is in high school, (the ideas are generally geared to elementary ages), we've "outgrown" this wonderful magazine. Until the grandkids come along. Then I will be re-starting my subscription.
This is one of the few magazines from which I've given subscriptions as gifts. You'll find each issue chock-full of crafts, recipes, and ideas for the month it is published. From New Year's through Christmas, every holiday is featured as well as the seasons of the year. Most of the crafts and recipes call for ingredients you already have on hand and most are easy to do. And there's always a recipe specifically written (including step-by-step pictures) for the young cook in your family.
Family Fun is produced by the Disney Company, and you will see their books, media, and vacation places plugged, but not so overwhelmingly or overtly as to take away from the usefulness and enjoyment of the magazine.
It's been hard to let my subscription lapse, but the time has arrived. So, to help me say goodbye to an old friend, I thought I'd have a drawing and let a new family enjoy the benefits of this magazine. If you think your family would benefit from and enjoy a subscription to Family Fun, then leave a comment and you'll be entered in the drawing which will be held Friday, March 10, 2006.

Just stopping by to ask prayer for Candace again - this is urgent. Thank you.

Mar. 4, 2006 - EMERGENCY PRAYER REQUEST FOR CANDACE!
Posted by DandelionSeeds
Cathy, Candace's mom, has sent out another EMERGENCY Prayer Request for Candace. (She also posted one in the middle of the night that Janne informed some of us of, as things are not going well). Please keep this little girl in fervent prayer.
Please remember the family of Missey who are having her funeral this morning. I will be having a post honoring Missey through "A Mother's T.R.E.K." and will keep you posted on that as well.
In Him,
Amy

I used to subscribe, but let it go as one of those little cost cutting measures. ;-) Thanks for the review!
Mar. 5, 2006 - hello!

Hello Sheryl,
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving such a sweet encouraging comment. I think that blogging will be a fun way to keep a journal. I am encouraging my boys to blog as well, even though they are only elementary age. It is a sneaky way to get creative writing, keyboarding, computer skills, and more in ... Alas, pemanship will have to be practiced another way...But the novelty of blogging has them arguing over who gets to sit at the computer!!
They are also interested in reading others blogs so the random button has been pushed a few times. My 8 yr old was insistent that I needed to see the "Disney Blog." (We live in Orlando) I thought it was funny to see that his mom was you and you just left a comment for me. Kinda like the seven degrees of Kevin Bacon...
Family Fun is a wonderful magazine. Occasionally I run across an issue at the thrift store. It is like finding gold!! I used to subscribe when my oldest were just babies (about 8 years ago), but have not ever renewed due to extreme financial constraints. Maybe I will win your drawing!

I have looked at this magazine several times at the library. As this is my first year homeschooling, I never thought to use it for lesson plans. Thanks for the now obvious resource--maybe I'll be lucky enough to win your drawing!
