Jun. 28, 2006 - ~* Answers to a New Homeschooling Mom's Question *~
Spunky of SpunkyHomeschool is asking her readers to comment on a question posed by a new homeschooling mom: What has been your greatest challenge so far in homeschooling your children?
Head on over there and read what others have posted and add your thoughts to the mix. I'll be posting my answer more fully on my blog at a later date.

Jun. 21, 2006 - ~* 10 Lessons from Motherhood and Homeschooling *~
As you may/may not know, TTC is winding up it's first year at HSB. I'm also closing down our home we moved out of recently and closing out my paperwork for our school year. As a result of the last two items, my poor blog is suffering from lack of time and attention. Rather than keep pretending that will change, I decided to re-post a post from the past. HOpe you enjoy the re-read if you read it the first time, and a new read if you missed it :)
~* 10 Lessons from Motherhood and Homeschooling *~
10. My kids taught me more than I taught them.
9. Life is short, time flies, and those truths hit hardest when your son/daughter turns 13.
8. Having your kids home 24/7 makes you face some real truths about yourself.
7.
I learned so much more from teaching than I did by being a student, and
I learned that no education fills all the "holes" and "gaps". The most
educated person in the world, still has holes and gaps in his
storehouse of knowledge.
6. Relationships are strengthened and sweetened through more time together. Absence may "make the heart grow fonder", but togetherness strengthens heart ties.
5. God's ways are not our ways.
4. Just as physical fences protect home and property, parental fences protect our kids.
3. Parenting is more than an 18 year commitment, it's a life-long commitment.
2. Structure is actually freeing and "winging it" actually becomes frustrating and binding.
And the number one thing I learned as a mom and homeschooling teacher:
1. I need God!
God
is faithful and true. He is always available, always willing,
all-knowing, all-wise, ever-present. He is our Enabler, our Counselor,
our Physician, our Strength, and our Source for everything and anything
we need in life.
Sometimes, I think He gave us kids to keep us reminded of that.

May. 16, 2006 - ~* Help Celebrate a Birthday *~
HSB is one year old! And to celebrate HSB's Front Porch is running a contest. Leave a comment with the URL or a link to your favorite post from your blog and you just might be a winner. Then grab a cuppa and look through everyone else's favorites. How fun!
Happy Birthday HSB!
